A 33-year-old influencer faced backlash after admitting she still lives at home with her mother and never learned to drive.

Elle McNamara, from Buxton, Derbyshire, makes videos about hair, beauty and skincare and has more than 600,000 followers on Instagram under the name Bambi Does Beauty.

While she primarily uses her platform to give beauty advice, she also posts videos about things she wished she knew when she was younger and how to tell if men like you.

But on Instagram, she opened up about her life, posting a short clip of herself applying lip balm and writing a caption at the top that read, “Things I do that people think are weird at my age.”

She then revealed that she still lives at home with her mother and admitted that her parents, aged 62 and 72, are her “best friends.”

Elle added that she has been single for 14 years, almost half her life, and does not date or use dating apps.

The millennial said she “doesn’t dream of having children” and admitted that the older she gets, “the more introverted I become.”

Despite being able to learn to drive at the age of 17, Elle admitted that she never learned to drive, which commentators criticized due to her parents’ age.

One wrote: “Learning to drive is a necessity and considering your parents’ age, you should do it for their sake.”

Another wrote: ‘Driving is a big disadvantage for you and everyone around you…’

A third wrote: “Once her parents pass away she will have a hard time.”

The influencer also added that she does not like the taste of alcohol, but she is not alone, since younger people are abandoning drinks in favor of coffees and healthy juices.

Only 27 per cent of UK Gen Z say they currently consume alcohol, compared to 47 per cent of Boomers, according to research last year by Canvas8, a consumer insights agency.

The content creator captioned the video: “It’s okay to live a life that others don’t understand.”

But Instagram users weren’t too impressed and told Elle to get out of her comfort zone and experiment more.

One wrote: “The problem with living in your comfort zone is that it gets smaller and smaller the more time you spend in it.”

Another said: “You’re becoming more introverted because you’re not doing anything.” This was followed by another comment telling Elle to “try to do more things.”

A third wrote: ‘I ask this as someone who has already lost a parent at quite a young age. Family seems important to you, but when your parents pass away, what sense of “family” will you have if you haven’t met a partner or established strong social ties?
