The Lenovo Smart Clock Gen 2 retails for $40 and comes with a free smart bulb

If you think about it, clocks are already pretty smart. Take a look and presto: you know the exact time of day. (In your face, sundials!) Of course, modern clocks do more than just tell the time; they’re smart enough to recognize your voice and do things like play music and control lights.
They can also make excellent bedfellows, which brings us to this deal: For a limited time, as part of the early Black Friday sale, Walmart has the Lenovo Smart Clock Gen 2 for $40 — a prize that includes a free Lenovo smart bulb. Normally the clock only sells for $60.
The Smart Clock Gen 2 has a 4-inch color touchscreen that shows not only the date and time, but also the weather, your favorite photos (from your Google Photos collection) and live video from various smart cameras.

That screen also automatically adjusts the brightness depending on the time of day. And because it’s completely “smart” thanks to the built-in Google Assistant, you can set up various “routines”, such as setting a morning alarm in combination with turning on your bedside lamp.
Speaking of bulbs, Walmart’s listing page doesn’t have any information about the included smart bulb, and there isn’t much on Lenovo’s own site. I do know that the Lenovo Smart Color Bulbs fit into a standard E26 socket and normally sell for $20 each. You can use the Lenovo Link Pro app or Google Assistant to change colors, brightness and so on, but I don’t know how bright this lamp can get. I’m guessing it’s an equivalent of 60 watts.
And, hey, it’s free, so consider it a good first step into, er, smart-bulbery.
Even without the lamp, this is a very tempting deal at $40. Your nightstand is about to get a lot smarter!
