Nintendo issued a press release on Tuesday revealing that development on the film had officially begun.

Shigeru Miyamoto, who created the original NES Legend of Zelda video game with Takashi Tezuka, is producing the film.

Miyamoto will also be proud to be alongside Avi Arad (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse), with Wes Ball (The Maze Runner trilogy) directing.

The announcement also came just hours after it was revealed that the hit Super Mario Bros. film. of Nintendo had helped increase the company’s overall profits.

“I asked Avi-san to produce this film with me, and we have now officially started development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production,” he added.

Miyamoto admitted, “It will take time until it’s completed, but I hope you look forward to seeing it.”
