Fantasian, a new role-playing game from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, is now available for Apple Arcade. The game is playable on iOS, Mac and Apple TV.
Fantasian is the latest from Sakaguchi’s studio Mistwalker, which he founded in 2004; the developer has since released games such as The last story and Blue dragonAlthough Fantasian uses traditional RPG elements such as turn-based combat and is designed with handcrafted physical models – over 150 dioramas in total.
Fantasian features touch controls, but Sakaguchi says it’s intended to provide a console-like experience on mobile devices. The game follows an amnesiac hero who is looking for a way to regain his lost memories. In an earlier interview with The edge, Sakaguchi said repeat that Final Fantasy IV made him want to return to his RPG roots.
FANTASIAN has been released in Japan. Born April 2. Oddly, it was the same anniversary as FF6, which was the catalyst for making this. Congratulations!
