The newest item in Apple’s mobile gaming subscription service, Apple Arcade, is Crossy Road Castle, a brand new endless runner-like game from developer Hipster Whale.
The studio has made a name for itself with the creation of the Frogger-inspired endless runner Crossy Road in 2014, which has enjoyed considerable success as both a mobile game and a smart TV available on Apple’s TVOS platform. Now Hipster Whale is back with not quite a sequel, but more a spin-off with the same art style and cast of characters.
Crossy Road Castle is still an endless runner, but instead of crossing a busy street full of cars, you cross an endlessly high castle tower full of obstacles and enemies. The levels are procedurally generated, Hipster Whale says, and there are still many collectables to unlock, as was the case with the colorful cast of polygonal animal avatars from the original game.
Crossy Road Castle also supports co-op for up to four players. The game can also be played with touch controls or a controller.
