A man admitted yesterday that he attacked a young mother in the street with a glass bottle and left her with a horrific head wound.
30-year-old Jamie Simpson pleaded guilty to serious bodily harm after the attack on 21-year-old Yavana Dix, who sustained her “ significant injuries. ”
Miss Dix, who has a two-year-old and is a caregiver for people with disabilities, was taken to a nearby home after a nighttime incident in the Isle of Wight Lake District.

Her family said they had made an improvised bandage to dress the gash and were waiting for an ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital, where she had six stitches over her eye.

Her brother Sean posted on social media a photo of his sister’s injuries at the time of the attack.
Simpson, 30, has been in custody since his arrest a week after the vicious attack and remains in custody until he is sentenced on July 9.
He admitted the violation on December 20 via a video link on the Isle of Wight Crown Court yesterday.
