A famous stylist whose appearance adorned the pages of some of the world’s best fashion magazines has revealed how she has made a glittering career in one of the most difficult industries on earth.
The Irish Aideen Feely, 28, dreamed of working in fashion because she was a little girl, dutifully noted the issue dates of glossy magazines in her children’s diary every month and dressed her friends in playful ensembles on performance dates.
After graduating in fashion buying and merchandising, she plunged into a series of internships and helped some of Ireland’s best-known stylists before finding a job with Stellar Magazine, one of the country’s leading lifestyle publications.
Five years later, Aideen moved to the center of Sydney and climbed on the tailor ladder, with spreads in Grazia Australia and a stint at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2019 under her belt.

Although it is clear that she has an innate sense of style that simply cannot be learned, Aideen draws inspiration from the sights and sounds she encounters in everyday life.
Most important pieces for every season, according to Aideen
A pastel skirt or flower dress
A loose fitting slip dress, combined with sandals or plain white sneakers
A midi dress with a pair of knee-high boots
A sweater with a high neck or mini dress
Art, architecture and the changing colors of plants and trees influence her as much as the photos on her Instagram feed and spreads in fashion magazines.
‘The most obvious thing for me is print media. I love to hold on [a magazine] – I’m going to get started and accept more, “she told Daily Mail Australia of her greatest inspiration.
Celebrities also influence her personal look and how she dresses her customers.
Superstar singer fashion and beauty entrepreneur Rihanna has been Aideen’s ultimate love of style since she was a teenager, mainly because of the unique patterns and groundbreaking ensembles she dares to wear.
“A year at the CFDA Fashion Awards I heard her say:” She can beat me, but she can’t beat my outfit. ” I totally agree with that! Aideen said.

Aideen likes to experiment with fashion and beauty, calls feathers and vividly colored leather one of the striking trends for 2020
A lover of everything that is experimental, there are few pieces that Aideen has not tried on its own or on its customers – except for low jeans, a style of tight-fitting, low-hanging trousers that sit under the hipbones and every inch of the diaphragm.
“I’m convinced they don’t fit anyone but Jennifer Aniston or the Hadid sisters,” she laughed.
And although she likes to play with different styles and prints, there are a few things that Aideen believes every woman should have in their wardrobe – namely a classic black dress and a blazer in ‘almost any color’.
‘A small black dress is the perfect empty canvas to dress up or down on your Friday morning. It takes you from work to drink in one go, “she said.
Disco collars, feathers and vibrantly colored leather are the trends that appeal to Aideen this season, although she will dodge sweat-inducing substances until she returns to the cooler climates of Ireland.
Aideen’s top three trends for 2020
1. DISCO NECKLACES
Praised as the number one tailoring trend by Harper’s Bazaar for the spring of 2020, the broad collar loved by the Studio 54 set made an unexpected comeback on the catwalk late last year.
Tailored to coats, jackets and shirts, the collar is often made with a striking color to contrast the rest of the garment, which makes a real statement.
Highly acclaimed designers, including Saint Laurent, Lanvin, Victoria Beckham and Salvatore Ferragamo, all sent models that crashed their jumpers into extra large disco collars.
Dresses, tops and skirts adorned with thick layers of feathers dominate the collections of legendary fashion houses, including Burberry and Valentino, as well as emerging names such as Attico this season.
Fashionistas can give the feminine look a sharper edge by combining a feathered piece with denim ‘mom’ jeans, leather pants or pants with animal print, ideally zebra – the print of 2020.
3. COLORED LEATHER
Once reserved for cool winter days, leather is ready to sunbathe while making the switch to spring / summer collections.
The eternally fashionable material was seen on catwalks from New York to Paris, where leather jackets, dresses, skirts and pants were central.
Lime green coordinated skirts and tops were big news at Marni, while a quirky burgundy leather leather vest was the talk in town in Gucci’s spring display case.
Bold leather midi skirts were the order of the day with Prada, while pastel-colored leather trousers appeared with Alexander McQueen.

Since the move of Down Under, Aideen has been influenced by the dedication of the Australian fashion industry to sustainable materials and ethical production.
“It has already had a huge impact on me. I think it’s great, “she said.
Australia has also inspired Aideen to write about her professional experience.
Her first eBook Fashion stylist secrets, was released on February 5.
She describes it as a ‘step by step guide designed for ambitious fashion stylists who want to break through the industry’.
“It’s educational and exciting, it learns about the different aspects and trade secrets that only industry professionals know,” she said.
