A leading talent manager has revealed how much money influencers really make.
Ali Grant of influencer marketing agency The Digital Department, who appeared on Susan Yara’s YouTube channel, explained that income can vary wildly depending on an influencer’s engagement and how much they post.
However, he explained that the average influencer with an engaged following should make around half a million dollars a year.
“If you have a million followers on Instagram and you have good management and a vision, you’re doing everything right as a content creator, which is consistency and having a point of view, you should be making about $500,000 a year,” he said. saying.
Explaining the pay structure in more detail, Grant said influencers can charge $30,000 to post an Instagram Reel, but can add “another $15,000 to $20,000” to share the Reel on their Instagram Stories.

Appearing on Susan Yara’s YouTube channel, talent manager Ali Grant explained that income can vary wildly depending on an influencer’s engagement.
But Grant emphasized that the entire price tag comes down to an influencer’s analytics and the level of engagement of their followers.
“Someone with a million followers might have 100,000 views on their story, some might have 10,000 views on their story,” he explained.
“It’s everywhere, so it’s very hard to say,” he added.
Grant said that as a general rule, influencers should charge $1,000 per post for every 10,000 followers they have.
He also said he knows some top creators who make up to $5 million a year from their influence.
Grant represents a wide variety of content creators, including wellness influencer Remi Ishizuka, professional dancer Witney Carson, and reality television star Roxanne Kaiser.
Given the huge earning potential, it’s no surprise that Generation Z is desperate to become content creators: a recent survey says 57 percent of young people want to be influencers.

Fitness queen Kayla Itsines, who has 16 million followers on Instagram, can be paid more than $40,000 for a single Instagram post.
Bodybuilder Michelle Lewin earns even more, estimated to earn over $42,000 per post.
However, not everyone with a sizable social media following is making a lot of money.
In July, banking executive Matt Bowen told Australia’s Sunrise morning show that influencers “need to be prepared for prolonged periods of potentially no revenue coming in.”
Host Edwina Bartholomew agreed, adding that “most people who pursue careers as content creators are lucky to be able to make ends meet.”
