A driver has expressed frustration with fellow motorists for failing to comply with an unspoken rule of road etiquette.

The Brisbane woman said no one politely waves “thank you” when she allows them to merge or change lanes in front of her.

She said someone even made a rude gesture when she allowed him to sit up in front of her.

Dozens were quick to agree, saying people have become more “self-centered and selfish” on Australian roads, but not everyone was bothered.

‘Why doesn’t anyone wave in traffic anymore? Every time someone lets me in, I wave to say ‘thank you’. Every time,” the host ranted on Reddit.

“However, when I slow down to let someone merge or turn in front of me, they just continue driving without a care in the world!”

She said even a ‘moron’ made her ‘angry’ when he fused in front of her.

‘Do you selfish bastards want to ruin it for everyone else? Keep it up and I’ll stop letting people merge!’ she said.

He mail It angered other drivers and many said they had noticed the same trend.

“Because everyone hates everyone,” one user joked, and another said, “People nowadays are becoming too self-centered and selfish.”

‘Sense of entitlement. Manners and respect seem like a thing of the past,” responded a third.

‘I let someone sit up in front of me and he gave me a thumbs up instead of saying hello. “In fact, it made me very happy,” someone added.

Many said they always make sure to wave out of courtesy, even if people don’t respond back.

‘Greetings and that’s all that matters. I have noticed that people have become more autonomous after COVID,” said one driver.

“I ALWAYS say hello… I was taught respect and courtesy growing up,” a second commented.

‘I still greet. There are some of us out there. “Don’t stop saying hello because everyone else is an idiot,” responded a third.

But not everyone was bothered by not receiving greetings from motorists.

‘My thing is, if you have to let me in, congratulations, you followed the rules, you don’t need a thank you. “If you don’t have to let me in, and you did, you’ll get a greeting,” one user explained.

Someone else said: ‘Who cares?! I say hello because I think it’s nice to be grateful that the person let me in. If others don’t do it when I merge, why do I care? I’m just trying to be safe on the road. There is no law you have to wave. If the greeting is the only thing that matters then that means I can just interrupt you and say hello and say, ‘Well, I said hello.’
