Chilling evidence has emerged of the brutal execution of two Ukrainian prisoners of war held by Vladimir Putin’s troops.

Graphic drone footage appears to clearly show grotesque war crimes carried out by a Russian regiment known for previous atrocities.

Two surrendering Ukrainian prisoners of war hiding in a trench are killed in a hail of nine shots fired by Putin’s soldiers near Robotyne in Ukraine’s Zaporizhia region.

The apparent cold-blooded killings are believed to have occurred last month, but the images have only now emerged.

The Zaporizhia Regional Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine has launched a criminal investigation into violation of the rules of war and premeditated murder by invading Russian troops.

The shootings are being investigated by Ukraine’s SBU security service.

The Russian soldiers are believed to be from the 70th Motor Rifle Regiment, which is already under investigation for previous heinous killings of prisoners of war.

“The killing of prisoners of war is a serious violation of the Geneva Conventions and qualifies as a grave international crime,” a Ukrainian report based on the distressing images says.

Ukraine has previously claimed that Russian forces have orders from their commanders to massacre captured Russian troops.

Last month, the severed head of a surrendered Ukrainian prisoner of war was placed on the hood of a captured Kozak-2 armored vehicle.

Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin said at the time: “This is atrocious barbarity that has no place in the 21st century.”

‘This is further confirmation that the aggressor’s war crimes are not isolated cases, but rather part of the planned policy of the Russian regime.

‘These criminal orders were issued by battalion and company commanders of the occupation forces.

‘We will not allow these crimes to go unpunished.

“I urge the entire civilized world to isolate and punish the terrorist country.”

Last month it was also revealed that the earlier killing of prisoners of war was carried out by the 70th motorized rifle regiment – military unit 71718 – of the 42nd motorized rifle division of the 58th army of the southern district of the Russian armed forces, according to GUR military intelligence.

Its permanent base is in Russia’s Chechnya region, headed by Putin’s close ally Ramzan Kadyrov.

Ukraine’s GUR military intelligence agency has revealed the identities of several servicemen allegedly involved in the execution of captured troops.

The GUR said at the time: The GUR statement read: ‘These Russian war criminals may also be involved in the murder of several more Ukrainian prisoners of war by the end of May 2024.

‘This is evidenced, in particular, by radio interceptions of a conversation between the occupiers and the 70th Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces, during which one of the commanders of the Russian assault company ordered his subordinates to fire at Ukrainian soldiers.’
