Khader Adnan carried out four hunger strikes during his multiple periods of detention in Israeli prisons. He was scheduled to appear Thursday before the military court in Ofer, in the occupied West Bank, to decide on his release, but the session was cancelled.
The wife of Palestinian prisoner Khader Adnan announced on Friday that her husband, who has been on hunger strike for more than 80 days, is being held in “harsh” conditions, while the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club warned that his health condition is getting worse.
On February 5, Israeli forces arrested Khader Adnan, a leader in the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, from his home near Jenin in the occupied West Bank, according to the movement.
He was placed under administrative detention, a controversial measure used by Israel to hold Palestinians without charge or trial. The reason for his arrest has not been determined.
His wife, Randa Musa, told AFP that he is being held in the infirmary of Ramla prison in central Israel. She added that he “refuses any assistance or medical examination. He is in a cell where the detention conditions are very harsh.” “(The Israelis) refused to transfer him to a civilian hospital and allow his lawyer to visit him,” she added.

The Palestinian Prisoners Club, a non-governmental organization that defends the rights of detainees, described Adnan’s health condition as “dangerous” and called for his release.
After rumors circulated of his death, the Israeli Prison Service told AFP that Khader Adnan was still alive, but refused to comment on his health.
