The Hangover star Zach Galifianakis has slammed Democrats for their obsession with celebrity appearances at this year's star-studded Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

The Hangover star Zach Galifianakis has slammed Democrats for packing the Democratic National Convention (DNC) with celebrities instead of focusing on everyday Americans.

The four-day event at Chicago’s United Center was attended by celebrities including Kerry Washington, Tony Goldwyn, Eva Longoria, Ben Stiller, Octavia Spencer, Uzo Aduba, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Oprah and Mindy Kaling.

Musicians including John Legend, Patti LaBelle, Stevie Wonder, Pink, The Chicks, Mickey Guyton, Jason Isbell and Lil Jon also performed, while rumours of a Beyoncé cameo that never materialised sent fans into a frenzy.

His presence provided both entertainment and political support for Kamala Harris when she became the official Democratic candidate.

Although celebrities abounded, many voters complained about the lack of political focus on what Democrats planned to do to help ordinary Americans.

“As a small-town North Carolina resident… I wish the DNC would move away from celebrities a little bit,” Galifianakis said. Variety.

‘It works to a certain extent, but they have to conquer rural America.

“Hollywood thinks it’s very important and that’s a problem. Actors are people too and they’re citizens too, but I’m more on the small-town side than the Hollywood side. That’s just me.”

The Creative Coalition, an arts advocacy group that has sent a delegation of actors and actresses to every political convention since 1996, said it sent its largest group yet to Chicago this year.

This year’s Democratic National Convention even transformed what would normally be the driest part of the convention — the roll call — into a dance party with lively music.

Little Jon thrilled the crowd with a performance of her hit song ‘Turn Down for What’ before Georgia delivered 123 votes for Harris.

“We’re here tonight to officially nominate Kamala Harris,” he said before breaking into song.

He also performed a few lines from ‘Get Low’, editing the lyrics to read ‘From the window, to the Walz’, in reference to vice presidential pick Tim Walz.

The Texas portion of the list was punctuated by an instrumental version of Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” before the state cast 263 votes for Harris.

The actor and producer has been an outspoken advocate for reproductive rights and produced a 2018 documentary, ‘Reversing Roe,’ about abortion rights and access in the United States.

Actor Wendell Pierce also joined delegates from his home state of Louisiana to express his personal endorsement of Harris and help the state announce its 47 votes for Harris.

“I’m a proud son of Louisiana, and Louisiana is a family state, and I’m surrounded by my family of Louisiana delegates,” Pierce said.

Some fans wanted even more: more than 70,000 followers tried to win. both a Beyoncé and Taylor Swift approval to the existence of signing a MoveOn.org petition calling on the two stars to step forward.
