Queen’s Park Rangers head coach Martí Cifuentes joked that he would make his team practice against “two goalkeepers” after Sam Field was denied the chance to double his lead when Cedric Kipre deflected his header over the crossbar with hand.

Referee Geoff Eltringham missed the defender’s diabolical spot, moments after Alex Palmer denied Michael Frey from the spot, with Ilias Chair’s 69th-minute shot disallowed after he fouled Kipre in the build-up.

The Spanish coach could regret the luck of fate on a night when the Rangers could have reached 16th place in the fight to avoid relegation.

But Cifuentes chose not to complain and instead expressed his desire to ensure his team did not fall victim to “such narrow margins.”

“I’m told West Brom have been playing with two goalkeepers for a while,” the head coach joked.

‘Football is a game where mistakes are made and, unfortunately, referees can make mistakes too.

‘It’s a difficult job, the second most difficult after being a manager.

“But I’m not going to complain, I’m here to make sure my team is better than that, so if we had to play against two goalkeepers today, we need to practice against two goalkeepers.”

Cifuentes, like Eltringham and his linesmen, did not see Kipre’s authorization.

“I thought the goalkeeper made an incredible save.” The real ‘keeper,’ he joked.

His counterpart Carlos Corberán said that “he did not remember the action.”

“Hopefully the decisions made by the referees are correct, but unfortunately mistakes happen,” he added.

Rangers were eager to impress on a night when the club paid tribute to the late icon Stanley Bowles, and the pressure was on in the 17th minute.

Having failed to secure an optimistic long-range effort from Chair, Palmer was unable to stop an Andersen cross which was whipped in by a West Brom academy graduate after tangling with a running Frey in the build-up.

After overcoming the initial lethargy, West Brom equalized in the 24th minute thanks to a dream finish from Mikey Johnston, and doubled their lead less than three minutes later thanks to a nerveless shot under fire from Grady Diangnana, who scored the goal . the second against the hosts this season.

Rangers’ fortunes continued to worsen in the second half, but fortune finally smiled on Cifuentes in the 81st minute, with Field heading in a rebound to score once again against his former club.
