A depraved gymnastics coach who molested 13 boys between eight and fifteen by telling them they would be better athletes if they allowed him to touch them, were imprisoned for 65 years.

Jonathan West, 27, from Louisiana, pleaded guilty to 24 indictments, including indecent behavior with a juvenile, sexual battery and computer call from a minor.

He used his position as a coach to hunt vulnerable young boys between 2015 and May 31, 2018, who only regarded him as & # 39; Jonny & # 39; until four boys finally went to the police.

More boys came forward in the following months, who said some of the abuse occurred while West forced them to practice at gyms where he coached – including New Orleans Outlaws Gym in Kenner.

He is also accused of molesting at least six boys in St. Charles Parish, where he worked at Flipnastics Gym.

Judge Stephen Enright convicted of the 24th Courthouse also ordered West to be electronically checked and to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, should he ever be released from prison.

West was accused of

  • Nine counts of indecent behavior with young people;
  • One count of indecent behavior with a minor under 13;
  • Eight counts of sexual battery;
  • Two counts of oral sexual battery;
  • Three counts of the sexual battery of a child under the age of 13; and,
  • One computer call count from a minor under 13 years of age.

The judge also ordered that one of West's electronic equipment used in the criminal case for computer prosecution was seized and auctioned.

The judge heard declarations of effect from nine people, including six mothers of the victims who West as & # 39; Jonny & # 39; knew.

West worked as a coach for gymnastics and cheerleading at companies in Metairie, Kenner and St. Charles Parish.

In other corrupt incidents, West told the victims that his actions would make them better in gymnastics.
