A mum has revealed the one place people always forget to clean in their homes and didn’t realize it was dirty for over a decade.
The woman, from Western Australia, shared that she never cleaned her TV remote control.

“It’s very possible that it’s 13 years of dirt that I’ve never noticed,” he said, alongside an image of the dirty remote control.
She recently scrubbed the device with a Nutrimetics All-Purpose Wipe and was horrified by the amount of dirt that came out.

There was dirt on it and several buttons looked discolored.
Previously, the white numbers had turned light brown and a layer of grease covered most of the remote control.
The mother’s “before” and “after” photos served as a reminder to check remote controls at home and make sure they are sanitary.
Bacteria can stick to these surfaces and multiply, which can cause illness.
You can clean your remote control by removing the battery and using an all-purpose cleaning wipe.
Many shared their thoughts on the forgettable area.
“I never thought about cleaning them,” one wrote.
“Yes, remote controls are one of the most disgusting things in homes,” said one mother.
“It’s the only thing that gets used so much with dirty hands that people don’t notice,” another wrote.
One woman shared a simple tip to keep her remote control free of dirt.
“You can use your remote control through a zip-lock plastic bag,” one shared. ‘We fold it and tape it to the back so that the bag fits comfortably. It’s easier to clean and also prevents children from opening and closing the battery cover unnecessarily.’
Others pointed out that some forgotten places include the phone, keys, door handles, and car steering wheel.
