A glamorous grandmother has revealed how strangers assume that she is over 20 years old and that her adult daughters are actually her sisters.
And most people confuse 45-year-old Cindy Fernandez, who favors sets that embrace the figure and has long ago highlighted her hair, for her three-year-old granddaughter, Avery's mother, when they leave together.
The beautician Cindy, from Houston, Texas, whose daughters Kassandra and Michelle are between 20 and 30 years old, has been married to her husband, Miguel, 49, for 27 years, and says she refuses to "get carried away."
However, he also admits that his appearance has attracted negative attention from people who think he wears too much makeup.

As a trained beautician, the skillful application of makeup is second nature to Cindy, and she said she loves experimenting with different looks.
The mother of two children explained: & # 39; I do not want to just let go. On the one hand, I prefer not to grow old, but I also know that every year is a blessing.
"But even though many young grandmothers do not like to be called grandmothers, I love them." For me, being a grandmother is a privilege, so I'm happy that Avery uses that word. "
Cindy acknowledges the negative comments, but says that she tries to ignore them.
She said: "People can be cruel and call me materialistic or vain. It is almost as if we had never left school. You would expect people to mature as they get older, but girls will always follow you throughout life.

"I try not to listen to negativity, I do this for myself, not for other people and if I'm not hurting anyone, why not? I do not want to give in to aging."
Growing up, Cindy said she had always wanted to be a young mother.
The esthetician has two daughters, Kassandra, 25, and Michelle, 24.
Cindy was 20 when she had her first daughter and the second, only 11 months later. She had both with her husband Miguel (pictured) and has a granddaughter with another on the way
He explained: "My mother, who died nine years ago, had me at age 45.
"Being an older mother meant I could not do much with myself, there were limitations to running, attending sporting events, etc.
"She was fantastic and very involved when I had my own children, but I knew I wanted to be young enough to be active with my children and grandchildren."
At 20, Cindy had her eldest daughter, Cassandra, followed by Michelle only 11 months later.
Juggling two babies made her life hectic, but she also found time to make sure she always looked glamorous.
She said juggling two babies and doing everything she could to look glamorous meant that she would get up at 5 in the morning, when her husband went to work, dressed and put on makeup. She said she wanted to remain herself, even as a mother

She said: "People asked me how I stayed, as I always made sure to get dressed, put on makeup and look alive.
"It's difficult and, of course, there's nothing wrong with having your hair tied up in a bun and wearing sweat pants.
"But I felt it was important to remain me and realize that it did not have to be the end now that I was a mother."

Cindy says that most of the strangers she meets are believed to be over 20 or 30 years old. She says that when she was a teenager, people used to think she looked older than she really was and that she was stunned when people started thinking she was younger.
"I want to look natural, so I do not have Botox for the sake of that, only when I need it.
"We do not have much in the way of resources to fight against the hands of time, so why not use what we can?"
For the most part, Cindy says that strangers believe she is over 20 or 30 years old, often assuming that her daughters are her sisters.
She laughed: "I think they prefer that I dress like a stereotypical grandmother.
Cindy said she loves her regular days with her granddaughter Avery (pictured), and with her daughter Cassandra very pregnant, she said she is eager to become a grandmother for the second time.
"When I was a teenager, I always looked older, so when people started telling me otherwise, I could not believe it. I could not see what they saw.
"Although I look young, it's a double-edged sword for my children." At school, their friends bothered them, so I guess they soon got tired of that.
"They tell me they're proud of me, but being a young grandmother means they have uncomfortable questions, they tell me they just want me to look like a normal grandmother, but I tell them I'm very sorry, but this is me.
"I do not want to be put in a mold that does not fit."

Now, with Cassandra very pregnant, Cindy is eager to become a grandmother for the second time.
But while he appreciates his role and thoroughly enjoys his regular days with Avery, he does not think he will adopt a more conservative attitude in the short term.
She said: "I've always been a great believer in 'each one'." Some women prefer to grow old naturally without help, and if that's what makes them happy, that's great, but looking like that is what makes me happy. "
