Hunter Woodhall and Tara Davis-Woodhall celebrated gold medals twice in the past month

Like husband, like wife. The celebratory images in Paris were completed when Hunter Woodhall won the 400 metres race at the Paralympics, emulating Tara Davis-Woodhall’s gold medal in the long jump at last month’s Olympics.

The non-competing spouses were placed in almost identical positions at the Stade de France, watching their spouse compete.

After each athlete achieved their winning feat, there was a sprint to the front row of seats to find their favorite person.

A huge, lingering hug between the pair, each taking turns as primary support system and happy representative of Team USA, occurred twice over the past month.

David-Woodhall won the women’s long jump with a time of 7.10 metres on 8 August, while her husband won the 400 metres on Friday in 46.36 seconds.

The Parisian Olympian and Paralympian have been a couple since they were in high school.

The Parisian Olympian and Paralympian have been a couple since they were in high school.

Woodhall is now a five-time Paralympic medallist and has already won a bronze medal in Paris as part of the mixed 4x100m relay.

The 400m race is Woodhall’s first gold medal, having won a silver and a bronze in Rio eight years ago and adding a bronze in Tokyo.

Davis-Woodhall’s long jump win marks her only Olympic medal, having finished sixth in the event in Tokyo.

The couple met at a high school track meet and competed for three Southeastern Conference track programs before turning professional: Arkansas, Texas and Georgia.

They got married in October 2022 and have been pursuing their Parisian Olympic dreams ever since.

The couple will now have some time to relax before setting their long-term sights on the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.
