‘If you just believe in yourself like I do, you can’t lose,’ he says, while a final title card reads, ‘We’ll miss you, George’ as the video draws to a close.

Wendi McLendon-Covey, who played The Goldbergs matriarch and Pops’ daughter Beverly, also shared a tribute to Segal on Twitter.

Tonight’s episode was the last George filmed, but not the last of our season. We had no idea when we filmed it that it would be our last with him, ”she said.

Hayley Orrantia, who plays Erica Goldberg in the series, retweeted the video message, adding, “We love and miss you so much.”

Series creator Adam F. Goldberg also quoted-retweeted another McLendon-Covey tweet in which she made it clear that they would “ NEVER replace George in the role of Pops. ” If we get a season 9, we’ll tackle it then. ‘

Goldberg added in his quote retweet, ‘Tonight is George’s last episode. Fans ask what’s planned for Pops. While my input and stories have not been used this season, I know the way to address this loss is to use my real experience of the loss of my grandpa to honor George and my Pops. Hope I am welcome S9! #JTP ‘

Goldberg stepped down as the showrunner of The Goldbergs, which he created and is based on his childhood experiences with his family, after Season 6.

Goldbergs writer-producers Chris Bishop and Alex Barnow were named showrunners on the way to season 7 and the current eighth season.

ABC has yet to deal with the fate of The Goldbergs and it is unclear whether they will return for a ninth season.
