Paramount + will roll out its full overhaul in early 2021, with titles inspired by well-known franchises that are sure to bring in a ready audience.

In addition to their The Godfather project, ViacomCBS is planning to reboot the sitcom The Game, a spin-off of the hit series Girlfriends.

Paramount + will feature the true crime focus series The Real Criminal Minds, based on the hit CBS TV procedural Criminal Minds, which ended in February after 15 seasons.

The platform is also reviving the iconic documentary series Behind The Music, exploring the life and legacies of the 40 greatest artists of the past 40 years.

A previously announced kids show set in Nickelodeon’s Spongebob SquarePants universe and titled Kamp Koral will also be part of the first batch of Paramount + series.

Paramount + will also be packed with programming from ViacomCBS ‘robust network portfolio, aiming to offer more than 30,000 TV episodes and movies from well-known brands such as BET, Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon.

Paramount + ‘s predecessor CBS All Access launched in the US in 2014.

The $ 6 a month service was early to join the standalone streaming game originals such as The Good Wife spin-off The Good Fight, a new Star Trek saga, and the new version of Twilight Zone created by Jordan Peele.

ViacomCBS hopes the rebrand will borrow some of the Hollywood power from Paramount Studio in 2021, CEO Bob Bakish said.

“Paramount is an iconic and legendary brand loved by consumers around the world, and it is synonymous with quality, integrity and world-class storytelling,” the director said in a statement.

“With Paramount +, we are delighted to establish one global streaming brand in the broad-paying segment that will leverage the sheer breadth and depth of the ViacomCBS portfolio to provide an extraordinary collection of content for all to enjoy.”

The ViacomCBS streaming platform is already using the Paramount + name in Latin America and Scandinavia.
