A glamorous model calling herself ‘Luscious Lorna’ has avoided jail time after dragging a teaching assistant to the ground, headbutting her and pulling out locks of her hair.

Lorna Silcock, 33, a single mother of five, dragged Kayleigh Rutherford to the ground in a public park in Macclesfield, Cheshire, after the latter accused her children of “bullying”.

The attack took place over the Easter holidays in front of Miss Rutherford’s baby and 12-year-old daughter on April 10 last year.

The victim said the brutal assault left her “afraid” to leave her home and “unable to string together a sentence” due to the trauma of the ordeal.

However, a Chester Crown Court judge sentenced Silcock to 14 weeks behind bars, with an 18-month suspension, meaning he avoids jail time.

Before the attack, Miss Rutherford, who works at a primary school in Macclesfield, had chastised the Silcock children for making fun of her daughter, but they replied: “Our mother is going to hit you.”

In a statement, the victim, who suffered a concussion, black eyes and a dislocated finger, said: “It left me feeling unsafe leaving the house fearing something like this would happen again.”

It left me feeling isolated. I have been sent home from work due to panic attacks and fear of leaving the house.

The children saw me cry after the assault and for weeks I could not string together a sentence. I forgot what I was talking about. My daughter witnessed the attack as she screamed and cried. She’s young and she shouldn’t have to witness something like this.

‘She doesn’t want to see me go anywhere just in case I get hurt again, she wants to start boxing to defend herself and protect me. I have felt completely exhausted every day, both mentally and emotionally, I just want to get back to my normal self.

At Chester Crown Court, Silcock, a Macclesfield beautician who models for subscription website Exclusive Link, admitted to assault causing actual bodily harm and was sentenced to 14 months in prison, suspended for 18 months with the requirement of completing 20 days of rehab activity.

Her friend Atlanta Hewitt, 30, also from Macclesfield who was pregnant at the time of the assault, was sentenced to 26 weeks, suspended for 12 months, along with 25 days of rehab.

They were both ordered to pay £100 in costs and placed under a five-year restraining order prohibiting them from contacting Miss Rutherford.

Miss Rutherford (pictured) said the brutal assault left her “afraid” to leave her home and “unable to string together a sentence” due to the trauma of the ordeal.

Joanne Moore, prosecutor, said: “The whole incident appeared to have started at an earlier date when Miss Silcock’s sons abused Miss Rutherford’s daughter.” She texted him and the messages heated up.

Miss Rutherford, who was with her baby, saw her eldest daughter, who is 12, playing alone in the park and went to see her because she had been abused a few days before.

“When she got to the park, she recognized some teenagers who had abused the girl, calling her an a**g.

When she approached her daughter, the teens said something and she said, “I’ll talk to your mom,” but they became abusive and she felt intimidated.

“They said, ‘Our mother is going to hit you,’ and just then, Miss Hewitt walks out of Silcock’s address, holding a baby, followed by Miss Silcock. Miss Hewitt walks up to Miss Rutherford and says to her face, ‘What’s your problem?’

Miss Moore said Hewitt then turned around and handed the baby to someone behind her before going back to Miss Rutherford and then both women began attacking her.

“One woman hit her repeatedly, while the other hit and pulled her hair,” Miss Moore said.

“At some point it fell to the ground. When she tried to get up, Hewitt kicked her in the area of her shoulder. Silcock pinned her to the ground and wrapped his leg around her neck.

Atlanta Hewitt (pictured), 30, also from Macclesfield, who also took part in the attack, was sentenced to 26 weeks, suspended for 12 months, along with 25 days of rehabilitation.

“Have you had enough yet?” she said. Then she headbutted him. As she tried to get to her feet, she felt Hewitt kick her in the side and punch her in the head. Miss Silcock was still on top of her.

‘His hand was on the top of his neck. She bit down to try to get it out. At that moment, she remembers that Miss Silcock was taken off her.

Miss Rutherford was taken to her mother’s address for help and later attended A&E. She had a concussion, bruises on her face, a broken ring finger on her left hand that needed to be reset. She also needs hand therapy.

‘She was suffering from hair loss from hair pulling. When she made an initial statement about the assault, she said that it had affected her life. She said that she had not been eating or sleeping properly. She was afraid to go into the park.

She said her 12-year-old daughter had witnessed the incident. As she put on a brave face, she said that she knew that she had affected her.

She said other children were affected by having to witness the bruises on her face. She has affected her mom and dad. Her mother had not had a heart attack long and this added to her anxiety.

‘A witness described that Miss Rutherford was indeed attacked. She described Silcock running out of the house and both she and Hewitt attacked her, knocking her to the ground, punching, kicking and headbutting her. He saw Miss Rutherford receive several punches to her face.

‘There were numerous children in the vicinity when Miss Rutherford was being assaulted. She had her baby in a stroller and her 12-year-old son was also present. The effects of this are still lingering, especially as unfortunately other people have taken it upon themselves to yell names at her on the street because she has come to trial.’

To assuage Silcock, who has three girls and two boys between the ages of 16 and 6, defense lawyer Nicholas Kerruish-Jones said: “This incident should not have happened, but Miss Silcock’s feelings ran very high.”

“There was an issue that concerned her children and it is fair to say that her emotions got the better of her.

He says he’s sorry. She had no desire to get involved in a fight with Miss Rutherford, but the situation got out of hand.

Passing sentence, the judge, Miss Recorder Karen Ridge, said: “Ms Rutherford was dragged to the ground, had her hair pulled, was punched in the face causing significant bruising and was headbutted.” All of this took place in the presence of her baby and her daughter.

‘It must have been a truly terrifying experience for those who witnessed this incident. The violence that was used was illegal and cannot be excused in any way. Miss Rutherford has been affected and continues to be affected to this day.
