Sono Motors, which was founded in 2016, wants the Sion to be versatile and hopes to allow the car to be charged with solar energy and with conventional plugs.

The firm has reserved a date for mass production in 2019, which will be carried out by a contracted European manufacturer.

According to him, some 6,500 people have already placed orders for electric vehicles.

Prices for the Sion will start from € 16,000 ($ 18,540 / £ 14,320) next year.

The all-electric vehicle will offer a range of about 155 miles (250 km) before the battery runs out completely and needs to be recharged by solar power or using a wall socket, the company said.

Sion was originally designed as an eco-friendly vehicle, but will also feature a number of features designed around comfort to compete with other modern vehicles.

"We have a seat heater, air conditioning, a large infotainment system where I can also connect my phone interactively, which means that I really have a complete vehicle that is very simple, has no luxuries," Laurin Hahn, co-director Founder and CEO of the startup told Reuters.

Electricity and load

Under adequate conditions, the solar cells generate enough energy to cover 18 miles (30 kilometers) per day with Sion.

The company calls this system viSono.

Using bi-directional charging, the car can also be used to power other electrical items, including other automobiles.

Using a household plug, all common electronic devices with up to 2.7kW can be powered by Sion.

It is capable of providing up to 7.6 kW when using a Type 2 plug.

Moss filtration

A Unique moss is integrated into the board and used as a natural air filter.

It uses a special lichen moss, which is known for its attractive appearance and excellent air filtration.

Despite the naturalness of the moss, it does not really require care, since the plant extracts its water from the air, acting as a natural air conditioner.

Moss microstructures retain fine dust particles from the air, so even in a big city, you can breathe fresh air.
