The Gender Orgasm Gap: Scientist reveals why women cum less than men during sex
An expert has claimed to solve the riddle as to why women climax less than men.
A University of Florida professor discovered only 4% of straight women through penetration, but 96% of women can do it by stimulation of the clitoris.
Other studies have shown that women also orgasm faster when pleasuring themselves – an average of eight minutes, compared to 14 minutes during sex.
The professor attributes the gender disparity to movies and TV shows, which consistently show female orgasm during sex.
Psychology professor sheds light on the orgasm gender gap where women climax
Professor Laurie Mintz recently shared her findings in The conversationhighlighting the misconception of female orgasms.
“Indeed, educating people that women do not have a limited biological capacity for orgasm is important,” she writes.
“Similarly, educating men and women about the clitoris could be a game-changer.”
She discussed a 2017 study by researchers at Chapman University that surveyed more than 50,000 Americans about their climax frequency.
The sample included: heterosexual men, gay men, bisexual men, lesbian women and heterosexual women.
‘Straight men were most likely to say they usually – always had an orgasm when sexually intimate (95%), followed by gay men (89%), bisexual men (88%), lesbians ( 86%), bisexual women (66%), and heterosexual women (65%),’ reads the study.

The expert asked “thousands of women” what was the best way to reach orgasm, and only 4% answered with penetration, while 96% answered with clitoral stimulation.
However, the team found that the women reported climaxing more frequently when they received more oral sex.
“Women were more likely to have an orgasm if their last sexual encounter included deep kissing, manual genital stimulation, and/or oral sex in addition to vaginal intercourse,” the researchers wrote.
Mintz noted that at least 92% of women have an orgasm when pleasuring themselves.
A 2018 study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine found that women also tend to climax faster during masturbation than during sex with a partner.
The research included 2,304 women who completed a questionnaire about their health, lifestyle habits, sexual history and activities, orgasms and distress.
On average, women reached orgasm in 14 minutes during partnered sex, but peaked in eight minutes while pleasuring themselves.
Mintz suggested that partners should “take turns having orgasms using oral sex or manual stimulation, as well as using a vibrator during sex.”
