The ‘frightening’ last moments of the Victorian corona virus are revealed

An elderly man with coronavirus ‘died’ alone in the hospital quarantine while being cut off from his loving family desperate to say goodbye.

Alf Jordan, 90, took his last breath in a Melbourne hospital on Friday after contracting the disease at Glendale Aged Care in Werribee, southwest of the city, where 10 other cases have also been discovered.

Mr. Jordan’s granddaughter Gabrielle Cordwell and her family were unable to say goodbye to him because COVID-19 patients must be isolated.

Ms. Cordwell spoke about her grandfather’s last moments on Sunday after she was denied the opportunity to say goodbye – and also revealed A person’s “pig” tried to take advantage of his death with a fake collection page.

“He was alone from Tuesday to Friday. We knew he was alone when he died because the doctor said so. When he came back, he was dead, ” Cordwell told Daily Mail Australia.

“There was no one to comfort him when he was afraid.”

The last person to visit Mr. Jordan was his stepdaughter and caregiver Helen Webb, who is also Mrs. Cordwell’s mother.

“Mom was able to visit him on Tuesday before going to the ward, but while she was there, his diagnosis of COVID-19 came back,” said Ms. Cordwell.

“She was told to leave immediately and isolate herself in case she had it. She’s waiting for her results, so we can’t even grieve with her. ‘

Mrs. Cordwell couldn’t even call her father before he passed away “because it all happened so fast.”

“Sunday evening, Monday morning, we still didn’t think it was going to happen, we still thought we had time. But then he was diagnosed Tuesday, “she said.

Ms. Cordwell said her large family “cannot mourn” the death of Mr. Jordan as only 10 people can attend the funerals in Victoria due to COVID-19 restrictions.

“There are 12 children alone, so we don’t have one. It feels like we can’t tell his life is over, ”said Cordwell.

“When someone dies, family can normally gather to celebrate their lives, but we shouldn’t even visit each other.

“It’s like we’re going to go on without going on.”

Mr. Jordan’s family plan to hold a memorial to him as soon as the COVID-19 restrictions become easier to allow for larger gatherings.

“I received a message from friends saying, ‘Your mom sent me a friend request and asked me to donate to this page,’ said Ms. Cordwell.

“I immediately knew it was wrong because my mom wouldn’t ask for money.”

Ms. Cordwell later warned her friends on Facebook, saying, “We don’t have and don’t want to ask for money! Some pig is trying to take advantage of his death! ‘

She has since reported the case to the Victoria Police and Donorbox has stopped the fundraiser.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted the Victoria Police Department for comment.

He was the 107th person to die of COVID-19 in Australia when he died on Friday.

Another 70-year-old man died in Victoria on Saturday night, bringing the national death toll to 108.

There are 57 Victorians in the hospital with COVID-19, including 16 remaining in intensive care, Prime Minister Daniel Andrews confirmed on Sunday morning.

Victorians living in metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire are currently in the middle of a second enclosure.

Because of the reintroduced measures in parts of the state, people can only leave their home for four essential purposes: groceries, daily exercise, to give or receive care and to go to school or work.

Mr. Andrews begged people to follow those orders and told the audience on Sunday that it is currently a “very dangerous” situation.

“This is a dangerous time,” he said.
