The avocado crooast is the latest installment in the ever-expanding family meal that combines French pastries with something more

You’ve probably heard of avocado toast, which has become increasingly popular in recent years as cafes across the UK start to include it as a breakfast staple. But now, a chic venue in central London has given the millennial favorite a makeover.

The ‘avocado croissant’, which involves adding mashed avocado guacamole style to a toasted croissant, is served at the Four Seasons hotel in Park Lane, but not everyone is convinced by the £26 invention.

Pavyllon London, a restaurant inside the luxury hotel, offers breakfast as a new addition to its menu; containing a flattened croissant, guacamole, a poached egg, salad and parmesan cheese. But after seeing the dish online, many people criticized the price and claimed they can make it at home for a fraction of the cost.

A TikTok clip shows the breakfast dish being prepared before being served in a pile, loaded with shavings of salted parmesan to finish it off.

While some commented on their excitement about the new menu item, others were unimpressed by the price.

“It’s £30 please,” one user joked, while another said they could “easily do this at home.”

A third wrote: “OMG only Brits could ruin the croissant.”

Priced at £26, the avocado crosta joins an already jaw-dropping menu of exorbitantly priced breakfast items that include simply two eggs on regular toast costing £20.

Customers can also enjoy a full English breakfast for £45 or a lighter fruit salad option costing £16.

The price probably has something to do with the place itself, which this year received its first Michelin star thanks to chef Yannick Alléno.

The French chef is famous for having obtained 16 stars in his 17 restaurants throughout his career.

The London restaurant is the latest in the chef’s vast venue empire after being acquired last year to offer a “casual concept”.

For example, a popular bakery launched a ‘cookie’ (a combination between a croissant and a cookie) earlier this year, as fans went crazy for the delicious treat.

The ‘cookie’ was first invented by pastry chef Stéphane Louvard in October 2022 and then went viral on TikTok and videos showing users buying the original or making their own at home have racked up millions of views on the platform. .

Back in 2014, the cronut made its debut and became so popular that it was sold at Dunkin Donuts. Its creator, Dominique Ansel, presented his creation the previous year at the bakery of the same name in New York.

He combined layers of flaky croissant and donut dough and packed it between mounds of sugary donut glaze, and later won the James Beard Award for Outstanding Pastry Chef for his creation.

The next one was the old one, which was invented in 2016 and combined the crunchy texture of an ice cream cone with the crunchy dough of a croissant.

The new design, pioneered by London’s Dum Dum donuts in Camden and Shoreditch, served huge croissant cones with dollops of ice cream and was said at the time to “revolutionise the world of ice cream cones”.

And it wasn’t limited to sugary croissant creations. In 2020, M&S offered customers a tasty alternative with its cretzel invention, which combined the chewy texture of a pretzel with a crunchy, flaky croissant, to make a delicious breakfast or snack.
