The property, which was purchased by a local doctor in September, last changed hands in 2010 for $1.5 million.
Colette’s neighbors in Birchgrove included Australian acting ‘royalty’ Bryan Brown and his wife, Rachel Ward, who bought a nearby dock in 1994.
Colette is one of Australia’s most acclaimed actors, with leading roles in The Sixth Sense, Little Miss Sunshine, The Hours, Knives Out and the television series United States of Tara.
She was nominated for an Oscar for The Sixth Sense and won an Emmy for United States of Tara, for which she also won a Golden Globe.
It comes after the Muriel’s Wedding star announced her split last December her musician husband Dave Galafassi, 44.
The couple, who were together for almost twenty years have two children aged 14 and 11 and have spent the last few years splitting their time between Australia and the United States.
The pair met in 2002 at the launch of Galafassi’s band Gelbison’s debut album Metal Detector in Sydney and their second meeting took place just a few days later at a house party.

Galafassi confirmed their split in December when he was pictured passionately kissing chiropractor Shannon Egan on Sydney’s Manly Beach.
Daily Mail Australia contacted Toni’s management about the photos and hours later she announced the couple had split in a joint statement on her recently reactivated Instagram account.
“It is with grace and gratitude that we announce our divorce,” the couple wrote.
‘We are united in our decision and say goodbye with continued respect and care for each other.
