St Kilda coach Ross Lyon has revealed he no longer has his driving licence.
Lyon, 57, has been banned from the roads for several months after exhausting his demerit point allocation over a three-year period.
The Saints coach inadvertently provided the update after praising young talent Lance Collard in the pre-match build-up to his team’s win over Richmond on Sunday.
‘We brought Lance Collard with us. “He’s really fine, his girlfriend Hayley is coming to Melbourne so she’s settling in,” Lyon told Channel 7 before the match.
“He has true elite speed, skill and toughness, so we are very excited about Lance.
Ross Lyon has lost his driving license for several months
He says he has given his car to young Lance Collard to use.
‘I love Lance so much that I gave him my car for two months. Since he had lost my license (accumulated points), Lance had it.
Lyon was ready to laugh at the situation.
“He cleaned it (my car) and left it with a full tank,” Lyon said with a laugh.
The Saints coach was equally effusive in his praise of the defender Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, the young man who seems poised for a great season.
“His preparation is elite, he’s really mature for his age,” Lyon said of Wanganeed-Milera.
“He got some attention last week and still played well, but that’s part of his learning curve.”
“So, he’s very special to us, we know that.”
