A heartbroken woman whose fiancé died in a car crash a week ago has vowed to try to conceive her baby.

William Van Oosten, 21, was traveling on Toomuc Valley Road in Pakenham, 53 kilometers south-east of Melbourne’s CBD, at 12.40am last Wednesday.

Mr. Van Oosten, affectionately known as Billy, lost control of his vehicle when it left the road.

Emergency services attended the scene and attempted to resuscitate Mr Oosten, but he died at the scene.

The 21-year-old had recently become engaged to his girlfriend of four years, Aroha Skipwith-Taurua, and the couple had made immediate plans to start a family.

TO GoFundMe was set up by Mr Van Oosten’s close friend Liam Harnett to help Ms Skipwith-Taurua with funeral expenses and the cost of conceiving her fiancé’s child.

“(Mr Van Oosten and Ms Skipwith-Taurua) were recently engaged and were going to start their own family,” he wrote.

‘She wants to make Billy’s dream come true and give birth to his son.

“Aroha will need all the support and help she can get to cover the funeral costs, future expenses and continue Billy’s legacy.”

Harnett’s mother Kylie said Van Oosten had grown into a “beautiful young man” who had met the “love of his life” in Skipwith-Taurua.

“Once he met her, he calmed down and started to become a decent young man who had some goals for their future together,” she said. news.com.au.

Harnett added that he had known Mr Van Oosten since he was four years old and that he was his son Liam’s best friend.

The 46-year-old explained that Skipwith-Taurua only wants to have Mr Van Oosten’s children and hopes to make her dream of having a family come true.

Mrs Skipwith-Taura has already collected Mr Van Oosten’s sperm, but is now looking for a place to help her conceive her child.

“She will have to travel overseas to have this procedure done so she can conceive Billy’s child,” Mrs Harnett said.

“The struggle now is finding a place that will do it and obviously it’s going to cost you a lot of money, so that’s why we created the GoFundMe page.”

‘The wish of both of them as a couple was to have a child together. That’s why Liam is raising all this money to make sure that happens, in honor of his best friend.

The Harnetts hope to raise $20,000 for Ms Skipwith-Taurua, which will be used to help cover the procedure, funeral expenses and the future costs of raising a child.

At the time of writing, GoFundMe had received 24 donations totaling $2,170.

Mr Van Oosten is survived by his parents William and Sharon, his sisters Lara and Tasha, and his fiancee Aroha Skipwith-Taurua.

A police investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding Mr Van Oosten’s accident is ongoing.
