A feminist author has criticized President Biden’s transgender health secretary, accusing her of supporting child sacrifice after endorsing gender-affirming care for children.
Dr. Rachel Levine has said that “puberty and adolescence are hard” and believes that sex changes should be available for children who “go through the wrong puberty”.
He claimed in an interview that “gender-affirming care is” medical and mental health care before saying it was “literally suicide prevention” for transgender teens.
Levine, 65, previously said that so-called gender-affirming care for minors has the “most support” from the Biden administration, even though she previously admitted she was “glad I waited until after I had children” for her own treatment.
But author Helen Joyce criticized the opinion, saying that “every sentence” Levine said was “false.”

Speaking on The Megyn Kelly Show, she said: “The fact that he’s asking for children or saying that children should be given something that he himself didn’t have.”
‘Why are you doing that? What is it about his own identity that compels him to use children as child sacrifices like this?
‘I say it’s better that you tie a millstone around your neck and throw yourself into the sea than hurt children like this.
“It’s disgusting, absolutely disgusting to harm children to prop up and validate the identities of adults and that’s what I’m seeing there.”
Levine previously endorsed providing gender-affirming care to minors, arguing that treatment options are “evidence-based.”
He had been asked about the possibility of preventing transgender youth from seeking body-modifying treatments until at least the age of 18.
After transitioning at age 50, Levine is the highest-ranking openly transgender federal official in the country and was named a four-star admiral of the public health service.
The undersecretary for health previously admitted that she is happy she waited until after she had her own children before beginning treatment.
But author Helen Joyce criticized the opinion, saying that “every sentence” Levine said was “false.”

He began his transition in 2011, when he was 54 years old. She had already been married for 23 years and had two children, who are now young adults.
During a speech in 2019, he said: “I have no regrets because if I had transitioned when I was younger, I wouldn’t have my kids.” I can’t imagine a life without my children,’
But despite this, she believes it should be easier for other children to start treatment when they are teenagers, even if it costs them the chance to have children of their own later in life.
Levine’s support of gender-affirming care for minors would, in some cases, take away opportunities Levine had living as a man for decades before he transitioned, his critics have said.
During an interview with ABC, he was asked what he would say to those who thought they were “very reasonable” in asking children to wait until they are 18 to make a decision about care.
She replied: ‘Adolescence is hard and puberty is hard. What if you’re going through the wrong puberty?
‘What if inside you feel like you’re a woman, but now you’re going through male puberty?’
When Levine began her transition in 2011, she had been married for 23 years with two children.
Levine’s children are now young adults. While she’s glad she waited until after having children, she now advocates for gender-affirming care to be normalized for teens.
The undersecretary went on to proclaim that ‘gender-affirming care is health care.’
‘Gender-affirming care is mental health care. Gender affirming care is literally suicide prevention.
‘A caring adult can make a difference. Now one might expect him to be a father or a relative. Sometimes he is a teacher, a coach, a religious advisor, or someone else in your life.
Levine added that for “prepubescent children, no medical procedures are performed. The standard of care allows them to explore that with therapy.’
Although surgery is not performed on children under the age of 13, puberty blockers are given to children before they reach puberty.
Levine’s comments about standardizing puberty blockers, some of which can cause bone fractures, sparked fury among Republicans and doctors.
Levine, 65, grew up as a man, went through puberty as a man, attended medical school, married and became a father before deciding to gender transition.
In an interview with ABC, Rachel Levine claimed that kids can go through “the wrong puberty,” which is why pre-teen kids should have access to so-called gender-affirming care.
Rep. Andy Harris, a member of the House Doctors Caucus and co-chair of the Pro-Life Caucus, called Levine’s comments “reprehensible.”
“He said: It is reprehensible for a government official, let alone the US Assistant Secretary for HHS, to promote child genital mutilation as standard practice in the US.
“As a physician, I was proud to co-sponsor the ‘Children’s Innocence Protection Act,’ which would ban harmful medical procedures used to treat gender dysphoria in transgender minors, including puberty blockers and surgeries in which minors modify their bodies to correspond to a sex that differs from their biological sex.
“Many pediatricians, particularly pediatric endocrinologists, have raised serious concerns about the use of puberty blockers, hormone blockers, and sexual transition surgeries in minors.”
