Harvey Weinstein’s conviction as a rapist on Monday puts a dramatic end to the spectacular demise of one of the most powerful men in the entertainment industry.
After angrily denying the claims that he had forced himself on women since the allegations were made public in 2017, Weinstein now has to wait until March 11 for his two-point sentence; third degree rape and first degree criminal sexual act.
They relate to two incidents; the rape of Jessica Mann in 2013 and him violent oral sex on Mimi Haleyi in 2006.
Weinstein, 67, was born and raised in Queens, New York. He and his brother Bob had a fascination for film and a passion for it.
They used it in Miramax, a distribution company named after their parents Miriam and Max, in the seventies.
In its infancy, the company spread art-house films and documentaries, but it caught the attention of more serious players and in 1993, Disney acquired the company for $ 80 million in a deal that kept Bob and Harvey in leading positions.
From that moment on, Weinstein and his brother became the men who made an impression in Hollywood.

Their films, always with the most requested star and with valued directors, gave him an unprecedented position of power and wealth.
It also began the years of alleged abuse that led to the two incidents for which he was convicted Monday.
In private, Weinstein is said to force himself on actresses he promised to put into films.
The claims date from around 1994, the year that Miramax Pulp Fiction released.
In 1997 the success reached new heights; Miramax won his first Oscar with The English Patient. Shakespeare in Love was the next hit.
When Gwyneth Paltrow won best actress for her performance in the 1999 film at the Oscars, she thanked Weinstein on stage.
It was after he allegedly made progress on her by suggesting that they both received massages when she was 22 and had been given a role in a screen adjustment by Emma.
In 2005 they left Miramax to found The Weinstein Company.
By that time, Weinstein was divorced from his first wife, Eve Chilton, with whom he has three children.

The couple tied the knot in 1984 and remained married until 2004. He married fashion designer Georgina Chapman in 2007.
While Weinstein continued to dominate the industry, women secretly talked about his reputation as a predator behind his back.
Some warned each other not to hold meetings in hotel rooms if he had set them up.
Others had the meeting set up for them by their agents and feared retribution or a missed opportunity if they were not present and then gave in to what they say he wanted.
The rumors against him gradually started when he entered into agreements with prosecutors in the civil court, which meant that they could not speak about what had happened under the conditions of confidentiality agreements.
The wave started on 5 October 2017.
The New York Times published a story in which several women were mentioned – including actress Ashey Judd – who said that Weinstein had forced herself or used his power to get them to have consensual sex with him.
The New Yorker also had a piece in the works that was the result of years of research by Ronan Farrow.
Together they filed decades of accusations and caused the # MeToo movement. Three days later he was fired at The Weinstein Company. He charged them with access to his e-mails.
Harvey, challenging, denied it all and started sending emails to friends requesting their continued support and trust.

His wife, Georgina, announced that she would leave him on October 11, six days after the first stories were revealed.
As more women spoke against him, others felt compelled to speak out against other powerful men who, according to them, had wronged them.
Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow joined a choir of women who accused him of misconduct or just abuse.
Slowly the movement increased and Hollywood followed.
The revelations about Weinstein triggered broader movements such as # MeToo and Time’s Up
In November 2017, the NYPD said it was investigating a “credible” threat against him.
During the 2018 awards season, female actors wore black on the red carpet and proudly spelled buttons with the phrase Time’s Up to their couture clothing.
Weinstein was expelled by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.
International police later confirmed that they were also investigating claims against him.
Weinstein tried to restore his image. He went to
Weinstein was not charged in New York until May 2018. He was released on a $ 1 million bond. He fled the city and took refuge in a suburb where he is close enough to his children with Chapman to see them.
Weinstein was originally charged in May 2018 for two alleged incidents; the “rape” of 2013 and an incident in 2004 involving Lucia Evans, who said he had forced her to perform oral sex with him.
In May 2018, Weinstein was finally detained for sexual abuse and rape. He laughed through it and paid a cash bond of $ 1 million
The third incident, which he continues to be accused of, was first revealed in a second charge in August 2018.
The indictment of Evans’ allegation was withdrawn in October 2018, after his lawyer had proved that one of the investigators leading the case had not told the prosecutor that a witness doubted her story.
The two charges were eventually consolidated into one and he will be tried for the alleged rape in 2013 and alleged oral sex in 2006.
The victims of those incidents were Jessica Mann and Mimi Haleyi.
In December, Weinstein settled with some of his accusers for $ 25 million. It is unknown how much he paid in legal fees, but his $ 150 million fortune suffered a significant loss from the bills, settlements, and divorce of Chapmnan’s lawyers, which were settled privately in January 2018 for eight figures.
The process finally began after more than two years legally back and forth in January.
It took a month. Jury members needed five days to judge him.
Now he says he will appeal. He has yet to be tried in California and will remain on Rikers Island until his conviction in New York on March 11.
Doomsday: Harvey Weinstein arrives at the court on 24 February. He was found guilty of rape and criminal sex and will now be behind bars for five to 29 years
