Just days after his stunning performance in I’m Just Ken at the Oscars, Ryan Gosling returns to the big screen in the summer blockbuster The Fall Guy.
The film – a loose remake of the 1980s TV series starring Lee Majors and Heather Thomas – recently had its world premiere at SXSW, where it received rave reviews.
Gosling plays Colt Seavers (the Majors character from the original series), a stuntman working on a major action film with star Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson).
While working through his romantic feelings for the film’s director Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt), Colt must take action in real life when Tom disappears.
The film will kick off the summer movie season on May 3, alongside Screen Gems horror film Tarot.

The trailer begins with Seavers riding a motorized scooter, as we hear in the voiceover narration.
‘It’s me. Colt Seavers, and this is my hero’s journey,” he said, steering the scooter into a subway car and throwing himself out the window.
It is shown that this was all filmed, as director Jody (Blunt) and her editor burst out laughing, while Colt continues his voiceover.
“OK, I’m not the hero of this story. I’m just a stuntman, trying to get in front of the director of this movie,” he says, on Journey’s Any Way You Want It.
Colt looks up at Jody and gives her a thumbs up as she nods and laughs, as Colt admits he has a “major crush” on her.
Jody gets in a car with Colt and tells him, “We have to stay super professional,” but Colt immediately says, “Cool.” Do you want to kiss?
Jody says “No”, and Colt backtracks and says, “Because that’s not what I’m into right now either”, adding that he likes “talking”, as they all start both laughing.
The film’s executive producer, Gail (Hannah Waddingham), reveals that star Tom Ryder is missing.

Gail asks Colt to find him, although Colt asks, “Why me?” Gail responds, “You’re a stuntman. No one will notice if you’re here or not…no offense.
Colt shakes his head and says, “I mean, some get caught,” as he is seen heading towards Tom’s house, while we hear a warning Gail gives him.
“Full disclosure, he fell in with some shady people, and they won’t like you sniffing around,” Gail says, as a number of hardy individuals arrive at Tom’s house.
Colt is seen walking through Tom’s house when he is attacked by a woman with a samurai sword.
“I’m just a stuntman!” » Colt exclaims, although these thugs don’t care and start shooting at him as he jumps into a river to escape.
He was later seen talking with his stunt coordinator and best friend Dan Tucker (Winston Duke), who says, “This is crazy, man.”
“We’ve got drugs, bad guys, and murder,” Colt says, as we see him pull back a curtain and see Tom in an ice bath… as he steps back in shock.
Colt is seen fighting inside a large metal structure that is being dragged by a truck while he tells Jody that they are going to “beat them up”.

Jody is punched on a roof and he shakes his head and says, “I never forget a punch…I didn’t mean it like that,” before breathing fire at his attackers.
The action-packed trailer ends with more important set pieces, including more from the fight against the metal structure.
The trailer also shows Colt and his trusty dog driving a truck and jumping off a makeshift ramp as an enemy says, “This stuntman is crazy.”
The final shots show Colt giving two middle fingers as he falls from a helicopter while Jody examines footage of a huge shirtless actor.
