Call of Duty: Mobile has been a historic success for Activision by every metric especially in terms of the revenue it generates, and the recent build has seen a number of major publishers trying to gain a foothold in the mobile gaming market. EA tried to follow in the footsteps of competitor Battlefield Mobile, but ended up canceling and shutting down the game this year.
While there are several reasons for the failure of the game, according to Alex Seropian, founder of Industry Toys, developer of Battlefield Mobile, the failure of Battlefield 2042 was a major factor.
In a new interview with Mobilegamer.bizHe said Seropian That the backlash against Battlefield 2042 caused “a state of self-reflection” if you will, and contributed to the cancellation of the Battlefield Mobile title, and also added that Apple’s changes to IDFA rules made bringing in players “more expensive” than before. Along with Battlefield Mobile, Apex Legends Mobile was also canceled earlier this year.
Although Battlefield has had some stumbles over the past couple of years, EA seems to have ambitious plans to improve the series. In addition to DICE working on a multiplayer game, Ridgeline Games will be working on a campaign mode that will launch in 2024. Meanwhile, Ripple Effect Studios is also working on a separate Battlefield experience.
