The EFL will enter exclusive talks with Sky Sports after naming the broadcaster as preferred bid for the upcoming TV rights… following DAZN’s bid to show all 1,656 matches of the 2024-25 season
Sky Sports has been named the preferred provider of live TV rights to the EFL from 2024-25.
sportsmail He revealed last October that the Football Association would invite televised shows of all 1,656 of their matches per season in a bold proposal that would require an end to the 3pm blackout on Saturdays, which has been in place since the 1960s.
This was a proposal for a streaming service that DAZN was particularly keen on – yet the EFL is now entering month-long ‘exclusive’ talks with Sky Sports, having picked it up ahead of interest from DAZN, Viaplay and BT Sport.
Sky currently owns the rights to Premier League matches but this five-year deal will expire at the end of the 2023-24 season.
