The latest birthday portrait of Queen Mary of Denmark’s eldest daughter, Princess Elizabeth, has been released, and it features a detail that many often fail to capture.
While most royal photographs are taken by professionals, the doting mother of four is almost always the photographer behind her children’s candid birthday portraits.
And she usually includes one or more family pets in her snaps for a personal touch.
Isabella, as well as her siblings Prince Christian, 18, and Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, both 13, posed with animals in their birthday photos.
In the 17-year-old princess’s birthday photo, she is sitting next to one of the family dogs, Coco.
“To mark her birthday, Her Majesty The Queen has taken new photographs of The Princess along with one of the Royal Family’s dogs, Coco,” the royal family announced in an Instagram post.
Princess Elizabeth of Denmark turned 17 on Sunday, April 21. The royal family shared a photo of the princess with her dog Coco, which was taken by her mother, Queen Mary.
In her birthday photo, Isabella wore a beige jacket, a white T-shirt, and a gold ‘B’ necklace, suggesting that her family and friends refer to her by a shortened nickname Belle or Bella.
It is not the first time that Border Collie Coco has appeared in the royal family’s birthday portraits.
For Josephine and Vincent’s 11th birthday, the twins posed with Coco and her littermate when they were just puppies.
Mary’s dogs, Grace and Ziggy, who died in 2017, also appear in the family portraits.
Their horses and even a koala have also appeared in photographs of the royal children.
In her latest birthday photo, Isabella wore a beige jacket and a plain white t-shirt and was adorned with hoop earrings.
She also donned a $3,767 18-karat gold ‘B’ necklace from jewelry brand Dulong, suggesting that her family and friends refer to her by a shortened nickname Belle or Bella.
Isabella wore her brunette locks with a wavy blow-dry and opted for simple, natural makeup with a touch of blush.
The mother of four is often the photographer behind her children’s birthday portraits and the family pet is a common motif that appears in many of her snaps.
For Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent’s 11th birthday, the twins posed with Coco and their littermate when they were just puppies.
In the first snap, she is seen smiling as she puts her arm around Cocoa, while the second featured a more serious monochromatic image of the couple.
Queen Mary has a penchant for photography and regularly posts snapshots she took herself on the Danish royals’ social media pages.
These include snapshots of the entire palace, candid images of the family and artistic photographs of the garden.
He also gets behind the camera on family vacations and shares behind-the-scenes sneak peeks in surprise collages posted online.
The fact that she continues to do so as Queen shows her commitment to a modern monarchy, something she and her husband, King Frederik, have spoken about since taking the reins in January.
