Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown will be out for Monday’s game against the visiting Atlanta Falcons due to a new hamstring injury.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter On Sunday morning it was reported that Brown had been demoted.
The 27-year-old made a surprise appearance on Friday’s injury report and has participated on a limited basis in each of the last two practices.
“I felt a little tight yesterday in practice,” Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said Saturday morning. “We’ll see how it goes.”
Brown had five receptions for 119 yards and a touchdown in Philadelphia’s 34-29 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 6 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Wide receiver AJ Brown will be out for Monday’s game against the visiting Atlanta Falcons.
Brown, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, has 384 receptions for 6,066 yards and 43 touchdowns in 78 career games (70 starts) with the Tennessee Titans (2019-21) and Eagles.
DeVonta Smith and newcomer Jahan Dotson would see increased workloads if Brown is sidelined or limited against the Falcons (0-1).
“That guy gets judged unfairly because he doesn’t get the opportunities that other people get,” Sirianni said of Dotson. “I feel really good for Jahan. I mean, he’s a first-round pick, obviously, we acquired him in a trade and we feel really good for him.
“He’s a smooth route runner, all that stuff. I think sometimes that position (the offense’s No. 3 receiver) gets judged unfairly sometimes just because they don’t get the opportunities that these other players are going to get.”
