The Dodgers completed a spectacular comeback to beat the Yankees and win the World Series.

The Dodgers won an eighth World Series in dramatic fashion Wednesday night after a remarkable comeback against the Yankees.

New York, trailing 3-1 in the series, took a 5-0 lead and appeared headed for a second straight victory.

But in a catastrophic fifth inning, the Yankees gave up five runs and allowed the Dodgers to even the game.

Then, after the Yankees took the lead once again, Los Angeles scored two late runs to secure a 7-6 victory and a 4-1 series victory. No team had ever erased a five-run deficit to clinch the World Series before.

Having avoided a sweep on Tuesday night, Aaron Judge and company hoped to force a Game 6 and take the best-of-seven series back to Los Angeles.

The Yankees got off to a perfect start, with Judge hitting a two-run homer before Jazz Chisholm extended New York’s lead in the bottom of the first.

But the game changed when Judge made one of several Yankee errors in the fifth inning that helped the Dodgers fight back.

It was a comeback worthy of an electrifying series, which began with Freddie Freeman’s historic grand slam and included a notable collision between Mookie Betts and two Yankees fans in Game 4.

Upon returning, Betts said, “It was love, it was courage, it was just a beautiful thing.” “I’m proud of us, I’m happy for us.”

Coach Dave Roberts added: “I thank God, I thank my players, their families… the fingerprints on Dodger Nation… this trophy belongs to everyone.”

It is the Dodgers’ first championship since 2020, when they were denied the parade due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Freeman was named Most Valuable Player after a remarkable historic series in which he hit home runs in each of the first four games.
