The ex-wife of a disgraced crocodile expert who raped and tortured dozens of dogs has broken her silence over her partner’s sickening crimes.
British zoologist Adam Robert Corden Britton, 53, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in Australia in August after pleading guilty to 63 charges, including bestiality, animal cruelty and possession of child abuse material.
Britton, who worked on programs for the BBC and even hosted Sir David Attenborough at his home, was arrested in April 2022 after police raided the property he shared with his wife and fellow biologist Erin on the outskirts of Darwin.
He had filmed himself raping, torturing and killing up to 42 dogs in the 18 months before his arrest, and had sickeningly posted footage online for others to see.
Erin was away from home on a work trip at the time of Britton’s arrest and first learned what he had been doing when she received a call from his attorney.
“When he told me (accusations) of bestiality… my brain denied it,” he told 60 Minutes.
“It was so shocking and I felt bad that I couldn’t speak.”
Britton was given a non-parole period of six years, dates back to his arrest in April 2022 and had been communicating with his wife from behind bars prior to his sentencing.
Depraved animal abuser Adam Britton’s ex-wife and fellow biologist, Erin (both pictured), has revealed the moment her lawyer revealed his vile acts following his arrest.
The once-celebrated zoologist (pictured center with David Attenborough and Erin) raped, tortured and killed up to 42 dogs in an 18-month period before his arrest.
Surprisingly, Britton wrote to Erin asking her to send him books on dog domestication, breed history, and behavior.
She said the “disturbing” request “upset her,” considering the charges to which he had just pleaded guilty.
“He’s writing about this like he can continue his fantasies in his mind, and that makes me so angry,” she said.
Erin has since divorced Britton, who she hasn’t slept in the same room with or been romantically involved with in years, but she still can’t fathom the extent of his disgusting actions.
“I still can’t understand how someone can be so depraved, so evil,” he said.
“It just destroyed my whole life.”
Police understand Britton escalated the depravity of his actions while Erin was away from home for work.
“That’s the question I’ve been asking myself every day: ‘Why didn’t I know?’ “What did I miss?” he said.
“I scratch my head, I try to look, I try to replay the events of the last few years to see if there are any details or something, but there is nothing.”
Britton was calculated in his offending, having acquired the dogs from online marketplace Gumtree under the guise of providing them with a loving home.
Erin was on a work trip when police raided her home outside Darwin in August 2022, leading to her arrest and guilty plea to bestiality, animal cruelty and possession of child abuse material.
He also never showed his face in the extensive videos and photographs and used the usernames ‘Monster’ and ‘Cerberus’, known as the three-headed hellhound in Greek mythology.
“He’s a psychopath,” Erin said.
“He has no awareness of what is right or wrong, I feel like I have lost a big part of my life and that I have been completely fooled.”
“I’m angry and upset and there’s nothing I could have done, it’s very upsetting.”
Instead, the distraught ex-wife has used Britton’s horrific acts as motivation to “fight harder” for animal rights.
“There’s a great sense of energy in me, of fury. I’m going to do something with my life and that’s fighting for wildlife, fighting for animals,” he said.
‘(This) just doesn’t represent who I am and I know I will fight harder in every endeavor I make.
“If there is so much darkness in the world, then there has to be light too, and I think we have to fight for the good things.”
Daily Mail Australia previously revealed details of a 42-page document by NT Chief Justice Michael Grant about Britton’s privileged childhood, which was marked by depraved sexual fantasies, including sneaking into paddocks at the age of ten. to hug the horses and eat their hair.
Britton told court-appointed psychologists that he suffered from chronic depression before he began making home movies of himself raping, torturing and murdering dogs at the age of 49.

He also falsely claimed that similar twisted perverts online, where he posted on Telegram, threatened to expose him if he did not create the content they requested.
Britton also attempted to tell psychologists that he exaggerated his crimes for the benefit of his online friends.
But the judge dismissed those arguments. He said there was no evidence to suggest Britton was depressed – he didn’t tell anyone, write it down or seek medical help.
The judge also said there was no evidence to suggest Britton was blackmailed by Telegram users.
He said it was evident from the fact that he described his torture videos in great detail to his friends online, while saying things like: “I love hurting dogs.”
Sentencing comments also described Britton’s lifelong struggle with sociosexual disorder, paraphelia, and zoosadism.
Britton was never attracted to humans and struggled to have proper relationships with women when he was a university student in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. He had two female partners, but they were not sexual relations.
After graduating, the judge said he had a “brief” sexual relationship with a woman who worked in the animal industry.
Britton also presented the court with a brief handwritten apology detailing his struggles with paraphelia, for which he was too embarrassed to seek help.
The apology read: “I take full responsibility for the degrading crimes I perpetuated against dogs.” I am deeply sorry for the pain and trauma I caused to innocent animals and, consequently, to my family, friends and members of the community I affected.
‘I let you all down and I’m so sorry.
“I now recognize that I have been struggling with a rare paraphilic disorder for much of my life, and that shame and fear prevented me from seeking the appropriate help I needed.”
Britton said he was determined to seek long-term treatment to prove he was better than his horrific crimes and “find a path to redemption.”
‘Please give my family the space they deserve to heal. “They were not aware or involved in any way,” he added.
Britton will never be allowed to have a pet again.
Adam Britton was sentenced to 10 years and five months in prison with a non-parole period of six years, retroactive to his arrest in April 2022.
