The daughter of ‘cult’ mother Lori Vallow told the therapist that she was ‘harassed by her father’ at the age of five
Lori Vallow’s daughter Tylee Ryan is said to have been harassed by her birth father years ago, before the ‘cult’ mother was involved in the death of the girl and her brother.
Court documents appeared this week describing how Tylee told a therapist that her father, Lori’s ex-husband Joseph Ryan, had abused her when she was five in 2008.
The documents came to light almost a month after the bodies of Tylee, 17, and her brother Joshua ‘JJ’ Vallow, seven, were discovered buried in the yard of Lori’s current husband Chad Daybell on June 9.
Lori and Chad are both behind bars on charges of evidence destruction in the case that began when the children were reported missing in November last year – more than two months after they disappeared in September.

The court documents describing the alleged sexual abuse were filed as part of a long-standing custody battle between Lori and Joseph Ryan, who were married from 2001 to 2004.
The social worker who wrote the documents first obtained by Law & Crime Network, shared what the therapist, Leslie Smith, had told them about her sessions with Tylee.
‘Mrs. Smith told us that Tylee reported that she was happy with her father’s visits and that they wanted to continue those visits during their last session, “wrote the social worker.
But, she said, Tylee had expressed concern for her and her older brother, Colby, who spent the night with their father.

‘[The therapist] then reported that Tylee had added something along the lines of “I’m afraid of overnight stays”.
‘When [the therapist] questioned her about this, she said something like “because Joe was bothering me and Colby”. ‘
When Lori participated at the end of the session, Smith said the Tylee looked at her mother and said, “I told her.”
It is unclear whether the authorities investigated Tylee’s claim, and Joseph Ryan has never been formally charged with misconduct against his daughter.
The Texas Juvenile Probation Domestic Relations Office in Travis County, which handled the custody battle, did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.
Joseph Ryan died of an apparent heart attack in 2018, after Lori was married to her fourth husband Charles Vallow, with whom she adopted JJ.
However, Tylee’s brother Colby seemed to confirm the girl’s claims in an interview with Dateline in May, as the search for the children continued.
“He went out of his way to make a point, he beat me up and just did weird things like little blows to the head, thought it was funny,” said Colby, who is an adult and has a young daughter himself.
Colby then stopped to overtake himself before saying, “He had also been sexually assaulted.”
Asked if Lori was aware of the abuse, Colby said he had confided in her afterwards.
“I remember how devastated she was,” he said. “I can’t imagine that feeling, so I didn’t want to tell her at the beginning.”

In March, it was revealed that the FBI was investigating Joseph Ryan’s death as part of its sweeping investigation into the disappearance of JJ and Tylee.
Authorities are also investigating the deaths of Lori’s fourth husband Charles Vallow and Chad’s previous wife Tammy Daybell, who died weeks before he married Lori in November.
The search for the children ended devastatingly last month as their remains were discovered in Chad’s backyard in Salem, Idaho.
Investigators believe Tylee was murdered and buried there by Lori’s brother, Alex Cox, the day after she disappeared, September 8.
JJ is believed to have been buried less than two weeks later on September 23, the last day he was seen alive.
Authorities have not yet said how the children died or who is responsible for their deaths while the investigation is ongoing.

Court documents stated that Tylee’s body was torn and partially burned, while JJ’s was wrapped in plastic and duct tape.
Lori was arrested in February on charges of leaving and leaving children months after she and Chad Idaho had fled to Hawaii when the search began.
Those charges were dropped last week after prosecutors introduced two new conspiracies to commit destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence.
Chad was arrested on the same day the bodies were found, June 9, and charged with two felony counts of destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence, to which he pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors added two new felony counts for conspiracy to commit destruction, alteration, or concealment of evidence last week.
Both Lori and Chad will appear in court next month for preliminary hearings.
They have maintained their innocence in the course of the case.
