On Monday, The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins shared a video on TikTok and revealed that he had woken up to the videos circulating online. He thanked the couple for helping him feel like “father of the year” while gushing over the joy of his baby daughter.
“It was a very touching moment for me and my little girl, who can’t wait to tell her friends at school,” Justin said. “So thank you Taylor, thank you Travis.”
As the clip began, Justin revealed that he had seen Taylor’s Eras Tour show in Zurich weeks earlier, and how a personalized note from the singer saying she was a fan of the song had surprised his daughter.
He said: ‘A few weeks ago I went to see Taylor Swift at the Zurich stadium and the hospitality we were shown was extraordinary. There was a man on a golf cart who drove us into the main part of the stadium, parked near the trucks and we were put in a lovely VIP area. I had Chris Rock on one side, Roger Federer on the other and I was the father of the year.
‘To make things even more spectacular, Taylor Swift even sent me a lovely letter, which was waiting for me in the VIP section, talking about how much she loves the song I Believe In A Thing Called Love.
“I was simply voted father of the year, maybe father of the century, because it was all a big surprise.”
Continuing to discuss the recent viral moment at the US Open, Justin added: ‘Speaking of big surprises, everyone has been sending me some footage of I Believe In A Thing Called Love being played at the US Open and Taylor Swift and her partner Travis dancing, just enjoying the music.
‘It was a really touching moment for me and my little daughter, who can’t wait to tell her friends at school.
“Thanks Taylor, thanks Travis, thanks to everyone who enjoys tennis. It’s a really nice start to the day. Well done guys. Cheers.”

Taylor and Travis defied false romance rumors by showing off their love together at the US Open final.
The couple have been in the middle of a media storm after images of a “breakup contract” circulated online, prompting Travis to call his lawyers.
But in recent days they have put aside speculation with numerous romantic outings to show that they are stronger than ever.
In her most recent appearance on Sunday, Taylor looked sensational in a red plaid mini dress complete with a corset bust, as well as sporting a bold red lip.
At the US Open, Taylor and Travis were seen hugging each other in the stands as they got excited about the match between Jannik Sinner of Italy and Taylor Fritz of the United States.
On Tuesday, Travis’ representatives were forced to deny that the couple have plans to split later this month after a document written on the letterhead of his US public relations firm was circulated online.
The documents, which appear to have been created by Los Angeles-based firm Full Scope, reveal a strategy for their split and list the announcement date as Sept. 28.
