Sharon Corr has claimed she was denied boarding on a Ryanair flight back to Dublin because she was travelling with her violin.

The Corrs musician, 54, shared a post on Instagram on Sunday, saying she was left “humiliated and in tears” during the incident.

Sharon, who has lived in Madrid since 2018, wrote that she had a reservation on a Ryanair flight to Dublin, where she would travel to rehearse for dates on her upcoming tour with her sisters and brother.

“I was booked on a @ryanair flight today. I woke up at 6am and they wouldn’t let me on the flight because I had my violin. I was at the airport for 7 hours,” Sharon wrote on Instagram.

“I had to go back home after getting my checked luggage. Humiliated, angry and crying like only a good woman can.”

“Why was I going to Dublin? To my homeland, to rehearse, to go on tour! I’m beyond disappointed. Michael O’Leary, what a disgrace.”

Ryanair states on its website that passengers can “bring any music equipment on board as long as it fits in your hand luggage allowance.”

‘For smaller music equipment, such as guitars or violins, that exceed the dimensions of your hand luggage, you can choose to pay an additional seat fee. To do this, you must purchase an additional plane ticket and seat.’

“If your equipment does not fit in your carry-on baggage allowance and you do not wish to purchase an additional seat, you can choose to check it in for a fee.”

MailOnline has contacted Ryanair for comment.
