The controversial star of Netflix’s explosive Ashley Madison documentary series admitted he would have taken his infidelity secrets “to the grave” with him.
Sam Rader and his wife Nia opened up about their shock at cheating in the just-released documentary about the controversial cheating website Ashley Madison.
In 2015, it was revealed that Sam had signed up to the website when someone hacked the platform and shared every member’s name online in a shocking leak.
In the explosive docuseries Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies and Scandal, Sam laid bare his infidelities when he and his wife opened up about a difficult time in their lives.
Sam has now appeared on Melbourne radio show Fifi, Fev & Nick to talk about the documentary series, which has shot to number one on Netflix’s UK viewing charts.

Fox radio host Brendan Fevola asked Sam if he would have confessed to his registration on the site and his infidelities if it hadn’t been for the leak.
The Christian YouTube star admitted that although she had deleted her Ashley Madison account two years before the leak, she had been taking those secrets “to the grave.”
‘I was taking those secrets to my grave. That was (going to) the grave with me,’ he confessed when asked if he would have ever told his wife Nia.
‘However, I had regretted that lifestyle. It had been two years since I eliminated Ashley Madison, which was not made clear in the documentary.
“That was frustrating, they took it out of context. I deleted Ashley Madison before she appeared on (our career on) YouTube. But I had regretted that lifestyle and was taking those secrets to the grave.

‘And the Lord said: ‘If you’re not going to tell her, I’m going to tell everyone.’ So He exposed me and I give Him all the credit for it. He only exposed the slightest of what he had done.
Sam went on to reflect on the moment he discovered his name had been revealed in the leak back in 2015, admitting he felt like he was going to “faint.”
‘I thought it was all over. When they discovered my name and I received that initial tweet. “We were at the airport and I almost fainted,” she candidly shared.
‘I felt nauseous, severe tunnel vision… I was just panicking. My eyeballs were like earthquakes in my skull. It was one of the scariest moments of my life.’
Sam and Nia, who grew up in Wills Point, Texas, began dating when they were in high school after bonding over their Christian faith.

They were together for five years before marrying in 2009 and welcoming their daughter, Symphony, in July 2010.
In the docuseries, Sam said the “responsibility” that came with welcoming his first child with Nia, in her 20s, made him “long for a passionate romance” as he opened up about what led to his infidelity.
‘I love being a dad, I love my children, I’m crazy about them. But it was just this sudden flood of responsibilities. So much responsibility that I wasn’t prepared for,’ he explained.
‘Paying the bills, keeping up with our finances, staying out of debt, making sure our mortgage was paid on time, making sure the electricity didn’t go out…
‘I had imagined my life would be exciting, but it wasn’t anymore. Life became monotonous.
‘I longed for passionate romantic love. I didn’t want to leave my family but I wanted something exciting in my life. I wanted more of the good things life had to give me.’
Sam, who worked nights as an ER nurse, said one night he came across an Ashley Madison ad and its slogan: “Life is short.” Have an affair’, caught his attention.
‘When I signed for Ashley Madison I made one of the biggest mistakes of my life,’ he confessed.
Sam went on to reflect on the moment he discovered his name had been revealed in the leak back in 2015, admitting he felt like he was going to “faint.”
“Ashley Madison was just a way for me to find women who were attracted to me so I could absorb their validation.”
The couple welcomed their son, Abram, in 2013, and later launched their YouTube channel, Sam and Nia, where they now have 2.5 million subscribers.
In the Netflix series, Sam explained that once his account took off, it gave him the ‘validation’ he had previously been looking for on Ashley Madison.
Nia also appears in the documentary and detailed how she learned to forgive Sam even though he “humiliated” her and made her feel like she “wasn’t enough for him.”
She said: “I thought, ‘I’ve been a good wife and mother. There was simply no reason. He has everything he needs. I am there for him in every way, what in the world he is missing and what he needed. ‘Go to this website for?’
Nia also appeared in the Netflix docuseries and detailed how she learned to forgive Sam even though he ‘humiliated’ her and made her feel like she ‘wasn’t enough for him.’
Sam first claimed that he had never been intimate with any other woman or met anyone face to face, before confessing all of his infidelities to Nia.
He told her that he had gone to “massage parlors and strip clubs” because they were “easy to access pleasure” and had even made a pass at “a couple of his friends.”
“He had pursued someone who was special to me, which led to her walking out of my life,” Nia explained.
‘I lost this very close friend because of Sam. There was a lot to face. I started to shake inside, I felt like my world was falling apart.
‘Every aspect of my life up to this point seemed like a lie. Everything we had dreamed of… all these special (memories), the day of our wedding, the day we met, suddenly it all ended.

‘They were years of betrayal, years in which he had acted badly in our marriage. It was hell. Something I had to struggle with was that I wasn’t enough for him. I worked very hard to be what I thought he wanted.
Sam said that while “there are a lot of things he regrets,” he is grateful for the “trick” because it forced him to confess and ultimately strengthened their relationship.
They have since welcomed two more daughters together, Juliet in 2016 and Josie in 2021.
