CCTV footage has revealed the horrific moment a young woman was hit by a car while riding her bike on a suburban street.
The nine-year-old girl was riding her bike on a path in Polly Parade, Tarneit, in Melbourne’s west, on Monday afternoon.
As she swerved onto the highway, a white sedan coming in the opposite direction collided with the motorcycle, throwing the girl into the air onto its hood and onto the road.
The bicycle was dragged under the front of the car.
The driver and a passing motorist in a pickup truck stopped and rushed to help the girl as she lay injured in the middle of the road.
The girl did not appear to be wearing a helmet at the time.
The security camera showed the driver of the sedan helping the girl to get up and checking that she was okay.
Paramedics were called to the scene and transported the girl to the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Security cameras show the moment a sedan threw the girl against the bumper of a car and threw her onto a suburban street.
“A primary school-aged girl with upper and lower body injuries was transported by ambulance to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a stable condition,” an Ambulance Victoria spokesman said.
The girl remained hospitalized in stable condition Tuesday afternoon.
Victoria Police were not called to the scene but have launched an investigation into the incident.
“Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a collision which occurred in Polly Parade, Tarneit, at around 5.45pm on 16 September,” a statement read.
The horrific collision happened on Monday at Polly Parade, Tarneit, in Melbourne’s west.
‘A cyclist and a car are believed to have been involved in a collision. As a result of the collision, a 9-year-old girl was taken to hospital with injuries.
‘Police have spoken to the driver and the investigation is continuing.’
