The Chase’s Mark Labbett says he was advised not to have a gastric band as he reveals he dropped FIVE pants sizes after 10th weight loss
Mark Labbett of The Chase spoke about his incredible ten-stone weight loss on Loose Women on Friday.
The ITV gameshow genius, 55, nicknamed “ The Beast, ” said he’s dropped a whopping five trouser sizes by cutting back on sugar and carbs.
Mark said he was advised by a friend not to have a gastric band because of the way he gets his calories from ‘sugar’, which is difficult to digest, and attributed his four-year-old ‘hyperactive’ son for his weight loss.

As to why he chose not to have surgery, Mark said, “I’m not a drinker, but sugar has always been my downfall. A good friend of mine who had the gastric band said it wouldn’t do me any good as I get all my calories from sugar and it’s too easy to digest. ‘
He added: ‘I still have sugar, but a whole lot less. I should have even less. ‘
Regarding his transformation, Mark said to the panel, “I’m gradually dropping Xs off my buddy. I’ve gone from 5XL to 4XL and it looks like I’ll be able to squeeze into XL underpants the next time I go shopping.

‘I lost 10 stones. I was 29 stone when I was a full-time teacher in 2003 and was at risk of high blood pressure.
“ I’ve been about 26 stone until the lockdown, and then a few things happened really well and came together and started losing weight. ”
He continued, “The most important thing is to run after a hyperactive toddler when daycare centers are closed.

‘I’m sure every woman knows this, how do you keep track of them? I found that at the end of the evening, instead of going to the fridge to snack late at night, all I could do was fall on the bed. ‘
The Chase star added how ‘the weight fell’ when he suffered from Covid-like symptoms a year ago.
He said: ‘I was lucky that a year ago I suspected Covid, I lost my sense of taste and I didn’t want to eat in these two weeks.

During the interview, Mark also touched on his love life.
In August last year, Mark revealed that he divorced his wife Katie after seven years of marriage so she could be free to date her lover after their plans to have an open marriage failed.
It was revealed when Katie, who works as a nurse, had seen her senior design engineer lover Scott Bate, 30, for 18 months.
He said, ‘Well let me put it this way, I don’t think it’s possible to date while I’m in lockdown, let’s just say I’m married to my job. My priority is with my son. ‘
