A British taxi driver who caused a five-day manhunt after stabbing his 42-year-old girlfriend in a jealous rage when she asked him to leave their Spanish home was imprisoned for nine years for attempted murder.
David Grundy, from Bolton, was pictured by the police in Benidrom with his jeans being pinned to the ground halfway through his legs during his capture at the famous Costa Blanca resort.
The 55-year-old was detained for five days after his partner Nicola Anne Walker Houghton was stabbed in his back house 45 minutes south of Orihuela Costa in June 2017.
Grundy stabbed his wife (both in the photo) in a cruel attack on their expat at home and has been imprisoned for nine years (right, his arrest)
He pleaded guilty to the attack on a court in Alicante last week as part of a deal deal deal with prosecutors in exchange for a reduced nine-year prison sentence.
Prosecutors had demanded a prison sentence of 14 years before the case came to court on October 16 and claimed that the British had attacked his partner after asking him to leave.
He also agreed to pay his victim at that time 42, £ 155,000 (€ 181,000) in damages. The sentence has only just been made public.
An arrest warrant was issued for Grundy shortly after he disappeared into a neighbor's stolen car after stabbing June 13, 2017.
The victim has undergone a life-saving operation to remove a large kitchen knife from her lower back. Her daughter warned the police after she saw her lying on her kitchen floor in a pool of blood.
Grundy, who worked as a taxi driver and gardener, is supposed to have slept in the vehicle he used to prevent recording.
Clothing and £ 4,020 (€ 4,600) were found in the car. Benidorm councilor Lorenzo Martinez said the moment the arrest demonstrated the & # 39; efficiency and commitment of the resort police force to make Benidorm a safe city & # 39 ;.
He added: & # 39; It says a lot about the professionalism of our officers. & # 39; Juan Carlos Moragues, a representative of the central government in the Alicante region, confirmed when Mr Grundy issued an international arrest warrant and revealed that he had fled the crime scene in a stolen car belonging to the neighbors he cared for and his own home left vehicle where it was.

& # 39; The woman asked him to leave the house because she needed time to think, but he insisted on continuing the relationship and kissing her and talking to her.
& # 39; Then, when the victim was in the bathroom getting ready to go outside, he approached her from behind and stabbed her once in the lower back.
& # 39; Then he put her on the floor and left the building. The victim managed to drag herself to the garden to ask for help from her mother and daughter, who were waiting outside for her. & # 39;
