Resignation: Campari boss Matteo Fantacchiotti had been in the job for less than six months

The boss of drinks giant Campari has resigned after less than six months in the job.

In an unexpected announcement, the company announced that Matteo Fantacchiotti had resigned with immediate effect. The news sent Campari shares down 7.5 percent on the Milan Stock Exchange, bringing losses this year to more than 30 percent.

The Italian spirits group, where Hollywood actress Kate Hudson stars in the BitterSweet advertising campaign, cited personal reasons for Fantacchiotti’s departure.

Fantacchiotti joined Campari in 2020, previously serving as CEO of its Asia Pacific division before replacing long-time CEO Bob Kunze-Concewitz in April this year.

He said: ‘It has been a privilege for me to be part of the Campari Group for almost five years and to lead this organisation.

“I express my deepest gratitude to all the stakeholders.”
