Block’s fan-favorite taskmaster Keith Schleiger opened up about the reasons behind his surprising decision to have a reduced role in the show’s 2024 season.

The reality star, 50, revealed he made the difficult decision after deciding long trips to Philip Island for filming would keep him away from his two daughters.

“I didn’t see a way to see my kids more than once a week or anything like that,” she said. 9Entertainment on Tuesday.

‘I wouldn’t have been able to travel from Melbourne, I would have had to live there. It just didn’t feel like the right thing to do at the time, I really don’t want to go three months without them.’

Keith is married to the love of his life, Rebecca, and the couple share daughters, Ebony, 13, and Jasmine, 11.

However, Keith promised that fans would still see a little of him next season as he will make a brief cameo.

“It feels a little strange not doing The Block, so you’ll see me there for about four or five days.”

On Sunday, Channel Nine’s hit renewal show was hit with more drama when Keith confirmed he was stepping away from the series.

Schleiger, has revealed that he will make “irregular appearances” in the new season for family reasons, said the Herald of the sun reports.

“With The Block filming on Phillip Island this year, Keith has had to step away from his full-time duties due to his commitment to raising his two daughters,” a Nine spokesperson told the publication.

“He couldn’t come to the island for three months straight. “It was literally a bridge too far,” the spokesperson continued.

“I didn’t see a way to see my kids more than once a week or anything like that,” she told 9Entertainment. However, Keith promised that fans would still see a little of him next season, as he will make a brief cameo.

“But Block fans will be delighted to know that he has participated in the filming of our 20th season as a special guest.”

Nine has confirmed that just five teams will compete to convert five properties into the former Island Cove Villas on Phillip Island.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal that a company owned by Channel Nine has purchased Island Cove Villas for a whopping $9.5 million.

The beloved renewal series will triumphantly return to television screens later this year, marking two decades since its initial premiere.
