Season 20 of Channel Nine’s hit reality series The Block will hit TV screens in August.
An early series trailer offered a first look at the five teams that will compete in the long-awaited series, set on Phillip Island in Victoria.
The trailer begins with host Scott Cam and Shelly Craft in a helicopter heading to a lush island, before giving a sneak peek at the participating couples.
“I’m telling you, this is going to be the best,” Cam jokes. ‘Shell, this year. “I’m taking this in a whole new direction.”
Once the duo lands, Craft asks, “Where are we Scotty?” To which he replies: “Paradise.”
The voiceover describes the place as a “land like no other,” as Scotty says, “Welcome to Block Island.”
“It’s an adventure 20 years in the making… for the first time, The Block is pure paradise,” the voiceover adds, before later including the line “the Australian dream goes tropical.”
On social media, fans were quick to point out that Phillip Island is far from a tropical paradise.

‘Tropical???? “Couldn’t be further from the truth,” one user wrote along with several laughing emojis.
“So just Phillip Island? That would be a real bummer for anyone who thought it was paradise,” another commented.
“Careful you’re going to blow up the Victorians,” wrote a third.
Meanwhile, a Phillip Island local added: “I love the advertising, but as a Phillip Island resident, it’s not tropical here.”
