Life as a WIRED Gear writer comes with certain demands. Many of us like outdoor activities, such as climbing, running, skiing, camping or cycling. But these sports are expensive and you need specialized clothing to avoid freezing to death. That’s not including all the time we spend moving boxes and forcing our spouses to help us unpack TVs and move treadmills and pizza ovens. It’s a hard life, but someone
Do you also want people to look at you and think, “That person spends most of their time swinging kettlebells and watching self-driving car videos?” Thanks to Cyber Monday, you can do it. Here are the best deals on our favorite fashion finds that also keep us warm and dry while walking outdoors.

Jacket Deals
This is WIRED editor Adrienne So’s favorite waterproof running jacket. Although it has a waterproof rating of 10.2K, the fabric is still stretchy, soft, and breathable, while the cut is sleek and neat. WIRED editor Adrienne So says she wore it for several hours while running in the rain and the water continued to bead up on the service without becoming uncomfortably wet underneath. If you are hot, you can also open the mesh pockets to ventilate it. We also like that it comes in bright colors (for high visibility) and has reflective details.
If you love hiking, look no further than the Arc’teryx Beta Jacket. Not only is it lighter and thinner, but it also comes equipped with a new PFAS-free Gore-Tex expanded polyethylene (ePE) membrane to keep wind and rain out while also letting sweat vapor escape. In addition to the ePE membrane, there is a soft backing fabric, a recycled nylon front fabric and a C0 DWR coating (which refers to the complete absence of harmful fluorocarbons). Arc’teryx currently owns 30 percent discount sale on your website.
We don’t suggest the Teca Fleece for sub-zero temperatures, but it will work if you live in an area where you can skip a puffer coat. It’s thin and breathable, but still leaves room for additional layers. Meanwhile, the flexible material will not make you feel tight. The color block design also adds a nice retro touch.
This is a great mid-weight jacket that you can layer under a rain jacket or over a tank top. Made from 100 percent merino wool, it’s dense but also soft. It will easily help you stay warm when the temperature drops during the upcoming winter season. It also looks super stylish and comes in pretty colors. Make sure you use the code. “ADVENTURE INCLUDED” to see the discount at checkout.

Made from 62 percent bamboo viscose, the Ultra-soft hoodie. lives up to its name. Refined cuffs and drawstrings offer a sleek look, perfect for going from a casual office session to a gym session without having to wear an extra hoodie. Cozy Earth hoodies fit true to size, so I would size up if you’re going for an oversized look.—Boutayna Chokrane
The viral TikTok hoodie is on sale and selling quickly. Editor Adrienne So loves the delicate stitching and fluffiness. It runs small, so I would recommend going up one size for a standard fit, or two sizes for a Gen Z-approved baggy aesthetic. The Cozy Fleece Mega Jogger Pant is also on sale for $60 ($10 off) if you are looking to get a matching set.—Boutayna Chokrane
This hoodie has a sporty look, but it’s not so tight that you can’t put it on underneath. In addition to a hood, it also has thumb loops and a high zippered collar. While it’s best for winter, it’s also great for other activities like biking or gardening when it’s a little colder outside. Make sure you use the code. “ADVENTURE INCLUDED” to see the discount at checkout.
I’ve been running miles every day to get away from my family (haha, just kidding, I love you!) and I’m realizing I need more merino wool base layers if I’m not going to do laundry every day. This is our favorite base layer, with sturdy seams that won’t chafe if you wear it under a backpack. I layer it under my top running jacket on days that are below 30 degrees.
We recommend this hoodie for those who want an oversized fit with structure. The Popflex Cloud has a nice heft to it but, as WIRED reviewer Nena Farrell says, “it doesn’t make her look like a marshmallow looking for a campfire.” The waist gathers nicely, while the dropped shoulders and large hood cover your body but still retain their shape and structure. It looks good with leggings, well-fitting jeans, and comes in so many great colors.

These SpanxShape Booty Enhancer Leggings will be featured in our guide to the best leggings, coming soon. The Booty Boost leggings are a fan favorite for their built-in butt lift, but I’m more impressed by the seamless design and quick-drying fabric that make them ideal for my hot spin and Pilates classes. They are also squat resistant and if you prefer longer leggings for winter, the full version is also discounted to half price for $49. In fact, the entire Booty Boost collection is 50 percent off for Cyber Monday: the flared pants, the flared jumpsuit, the bike is short 5″and more. (By the way, make sure you choose a larger size: Spanx is tight.) —Boutayna Chokrane
I bought these leggings when I started going to the gym because I love Lululemon but my budget doesn’t. They are great. The pockets are deep and hold my phone securely while I’m on the StairMaster, and the waistband doesn’t drop. The leggings maintain their shape all day long. I did get a hole in the back of one of my pairs, but I think that was due to user error (aka long nails). They are available in many fun colors and there are matching long bras (also discounted and excellent) that make me feel better in the gym without costing me a fortune in the process. Right now you could get a full set for $37 instead of $57, which is a very good deal.—Louryn Strampe
These are our favorite pants for those who are always cold. They’re ideal for a variety of cold-weather activities, but their soft, relaxed fit still looks fashionable. They’re made from recycled polyester, insulated with Primaloft, have an elastic waist and drawstring cuffs at the bottom of the legs in case they’re too long. For a complete look, you can combine it with matching pants. Payette Lightweight Sweatshirt—It’s also on sale for $142 ($47 off).
These hold the title of “The Perfect Pants” in our guide to the best climbing gear. They’re made from 100 percent organic cotton, so they’re super durable and feel super comfortable thanks to the elastic waistband and diamond-shaped crotch gusset. Pro tip: The women’s and men’s versions are basically the same, so if you’re a woman, buy the men’s pants one size smaller.—Adrienne So
Underwear and footwear offers
This is the best bra in our merino wool guide and I love it so much. Branwyn is currently 25 percent off sitewide. There’s no point in going all-organic for your sweaters, jeans, and jackets, while keeping dyes or possibly toxic materials in the clothes closest to your skin. They are durable enough to double as a swimsuit on hikes or camping trips when I simply have to get in the water (sometimes it’s by accident).
Everything at Rothy’s is 30 percent discountand the company is also making a sale on Amazon. Rothys shoes are quite unique: they are woven from recycled plastic water bottles. Not only do they keep plastic out of landfills, but the shoes are also durable and washable. The company also has a recycling program so you can turn in your worn-out shoes and get a new pair. Reviewer Julian Chokkattu loves them! They are very comfortable!—Adrienne So
Barefoot shoes are very good for you and you readers seem to agree. I’m having a hard time accepting this reality because it’s so cold outside right now and a lot of barefoot shoes are surprisingly ugly. These Lems boots, however, are waterproof, well made and don’t shout openly“I exchange my blood for that of my 18-year-old son.” (Sorry. I’m kidding. Or am I?) We also like xero shoeswhich are currently between 10 and 50 percent off sitewide.—Adrienne So
These are the best hiking boots I have ever tried. They are so light and comfortable that in winter I use them as daily shoes. Zamberlan has a very specific patented last that fits my narrow feet and ankles even better than heat-molded boots, and the company claims its waterproofing lasts the life of the boot. My boots haven’t reached the end of their life yet, but I plan to jump around a river all winter in the rain, just to find out.—Adrienne So

Along with zippered side pockets, it features subtle details like front snap buttons and a removable hood.—Boutayna Chokrane
We have an upcoming guide to the best running shoes coming out after this vacation, but these shoes are in there. I like the Altra for the wide toe box, which allows my foot to spread out, and the zero drop from heel to toe, which means my Achilles tendon flexes properly and I don’t give myself tendinitis on my long runs. This is the company’s versatile road-to-trail option that I can use to run on the trails, run in the woods, and then head back home.—Adrienne So
The posture is maintained 30 percent off sale sitewide with code CYBERWEEK. My goal is to only have to do laundry twice a week during the winter, so I’m considering purchasing another three-pack of sports socks. They are made of lightweight nylon and hold their shape excellently, absorb sweat well and do not wrinkle in the shoe.—Adrienne So
