A ball boy from Manchester City got a lot of sympathy after he accidentally forced the referee to give a drop ball when he checked a ball before it went out of play during the West Ham game.
Sergio Aguero took a shot that flew in the direction of the corner flag during the 2-0 victory and the boy was overly enthusiastic as he ran to collect the ball.
He played it back to Hammer’s goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski – but the ball had not left the field.

The players did not know what was happening and the referee had to report for a drop ball
Referee Kevin Friend then had to give a drop ball and tell the players what had happened because they had not seen him intervene.
There was a clear shock from the ball boy, who realized he had made a mistake.
But a City employee ran to him and comforted him as he patted him on the shoulder.
Social media fans offered him a lot of sympathy, along with some jokes.
