“I think it’s extremely important that we change the way we talk about abortion.
“The subject usually lives in the shadows, which only creates misinformation and stigma.”
Alex welcomed her second child, a son named Maxwell Keegan, with fiancé Carson Jory in August.
She also shares a son Elijah, 10, with ex-husband Joel Porter.
Alex won the heart of Rope Access engineer Richie Strahan on The Bachelor in 2016, but they broke up a year later.
Alex’s admission comes two years after fellow Bachelor star Abbie Chatfield shared her own story about her abortion in an effort to help others.

The 26-year-old told the Shameless podcast in October 2019 that she had an abortion months before appearing on Matt Agnew’s season, saying the frequent discussions about pregnancy on set were troubling in light of her experience.
During a particularly rough day of filming, Abbie burst into tears after a producer suggested how “fun” it would be to have a child.
The male producer asked Abbie a leading question about pregnancy as former Bachelor winners Laura Byrne and Snezana Wood visited the set.
“Isn’t it nice to see Snez and Laura pregnant?” he asked. “Wouldn’t it be nice to be pregnant with someone you love?”
“Because I had an abortion last year, I just started sobbing,” Abbie confessed.

Abbie acknowledged that her abortion made her “reluctant” to start a family.
Her situation was made worse by the fact that other people on set, including Sogand Mohtat and Kate, Matt Agnew’s girlfriend, often asked her about having children.
‘I’m so tired of having to justify myself’ [to these women] why I didn’t shout from the rooftops, “I want kids,” Abbie said.
“I felt really guilty then for saying I wanted children because I had one aborted in March last year.”
Abbie went on to say that the producers knew nothing about her abortion before the show.
It only became public knowledge when she “whispered” her secret to Matt Agnew one day during filming. A crew member hovered over her head and said, “Abbie, you’ll have to say it out loud.”

“And then I turned around, looked dead into the camera and said, ‘I had an abortion last year!’ she revealed.
Abbie later “begged” the producers not to include the reveal in the final edit, but she decided to go public herself to fight the stigma surrounding abortion.
She got emotional on the podcast and fought back tears as she explained her reasons for sharing her story.
“In the house I told the girls about my abortion… because I didn’t want other women to be embarrassed about abortions and I feel like it was being used against me,” she said.
“A lot of women have abortions and whether or not you know they’re having abortions, it’s okay. I just don’t want people to be ashamed or feel internal shame about it.
“Maybe someone who is in the public eye and says they had an abortion and it’s okay can help them.” [women who’ve had abortions].’
