Joey Graziadei took Maria Georgas and Sydney Gordon on a tense two-on-one date and ultimately sent one of them packing on Monday’s episode of The Bachelor.
“I need answers,” Joey, 28, said during the two-hour ABC episode.
Maria, 29, an executive assistant from Ontario, Canada, and Sydney, 28, a vintage store owner from Newport, Rhode Island, packed their bags and left them by the front door.
“Spending all day with Maria is like spending all day with the devil,” Sydney said in a confessional after previously accusing Maria of bullying behavior.
Joey told the camera that he didn’t know who was telling the truth. He then told them that he had a fun day planned for them and they all took a smaller boat to explore Malta’s Blue Grotto.
Joey Graziadei gave Maria Georgas a rose after she survived a tense two-on-one date with Sydney Gordon on Monday’s episode of The Bachelor on ABC.
“To be honest, this is really torture, but I’m doing it,” Sydney said. ‘I’ll show up for Joey. ‘
Joey pulled Sydney aside to chat.
“Joey is trying to find his wife and I know I’m the one for Joey and 110 percent it’s not Maria,” Sydney said in a confessional. “It sucks to have to spend my time talking about Maria, but we have to tell the truth.”
Sydney told Joey that Maria attacked her in front of the group and that Maria had been disrespectful repeatedly.
“The person Maria has been with me and others is not someone you would want your wife to be,” Sydney said.
Joey said he doesn’t want to be with someone who makes people feel uncomfortable. Joey then took Maria aside to talk. He said he heard her tell someone to “shut the fuck up.” Maria told him that Sydney was lying.
“She’s a liar and I’m over it,” Maria said in a confessional.
Maria later told Sydney, “You know we’re on camera all the time, right?” and she called her a troublemaker.
Maria and Joey kissed after she accepted his rose.
Sydney, Joey and Maria sat together with a rose on the table.
In the evening, Joey joined them for dinner and hoped to get some clarity. Maria and Sydney sat at the table and did not speak to each other. Joey first asked Sydney if she thought there could be a potential future with him. Sydney said she believed they had a legitimate connection. Joey then asked Maria the same question.
“I need some clarity, but I hope you feel what I feel and that is my truth,” Maria said.
Joey then took the rose and said he trusted his instincts.
“Sydney, I’m sorry, but I can’t give you this rose,” Joey said.
Joey then accompanied her.
“I’m a little surprised because I don’t think he knows the real her,” Sydney said in a confessional.
Joey then took the rose and gave it to Maria.
“I’m shocked but very happy,” Maria said. “This rose means everything.”
“Sydney, I’m sorry, but I can’t give you this rose,” Joey said before walking her out.
Joey hugged Maria after she accepted his rose.
“Tonight I feel something real with Maria.” Joey said. “I can see a future with Maria.”
A producer entered the hotel’s women’s suite and pulled out Sydney’s purse in front of the other women who gasped at her exit.
When the show opened, host Jesse Palmer, 44, told the women to pack their bags because Joey was going to meet them in Malta. Everyone started screaming and then ran to their rooms to pack their bags.
Later, they checked into the Intercontinental hotel and there was a date card waiting for them that said “Lexi, let’s explore Malta together.” Joey brought Lexi Young, 30, a digital strategist from Atlanta, to show her some of Malta’s sights.
Back in the room, Sydney talked about how upset she still was that Maria was still on the show.
“Right now, my brain is, you know, completely occupied by Maria, and it’s affecting my health,” Sydney said in a confessional. ‘I’m just exhausted. I’m lethargic. I’m exploding. So I’m going to make sure Joey knows she’s the problem.’
A group date card was handed out to the hotel and it was for 12 of the ladies and they realized that Sydney and Maria’s names were not on the card which meant they would have a two on one date.
“For me this is a real attack on my character,” Maria said.
‘I have never disrespected you. All I said is, yeah, you’re verbally abusing me, because that’s what you were doing,” Sydney said. “You were attacking me and that’s it.”
Joey and Lexi got changed and went out to dinner for their date night. Lexi opened up and told him how she was diagnosed with stage 5 endometriosis.
Joey brought Lexi Young, 30, a digital strategist from Atlanta, to show her some of Malta’s sights during a one-on-one date.
“It’s a reproductive condition in which tissue that’s supposed to grow inside the uterus grows in other organs,” Lexi said.
Lexi said the doctor later told her that she might not be able to have her own children and that her last boyfriend ended their relationship because of it.
“It doesn’t scare me in any way,” Joey said.
“I appreciate you so much,” Lexi said.
Joey then took the rose and gave it to Lexi.
“I can see myself absolutely falling in love with Joey,” Lexi said in a confessional.
The next day, Joey met up with the women for the group date at Fort Manoel, where part of the HBO show Game of Thrones was filmed. Three knights trained the women to fight and made them try to catch sausages hanging from a spinning wheel in their mouths.
“I literally got punched in the face probably 500 times,” said Daisy Kent, 25, an account executive from Becker, Minnesota. “I almost vomited because I was retching so much.”
The next day, Joey met up with the women for the group date at Fort Manoel, where part of the HBO show Game of Thrones was filmed.

Later, Joey took the women individually to talk. Joey said her heart started racing when she spoke with Kelsey Toussant, 31, an actress from Inglewood, California.
“I get really emotional when I talk to her,” Joey said. “She feels so natural and fluid that I get lost in it.”
At the end of the night, Joey offered Kelsey T. the group date and she gladly accepted.
At the evening cocktail party, Joey told them that he didn’t feel much for Sydney and that’s why she wasn’t there anymore.
“No one cares that Sydney went home,” Lea said in a confessional. “Everyone is being nice to Maria.”
Léa Cayanan, 23, an account manager from Waipahu, Hawaii, didn’t like how Madina Alam, 31, a mental health therapist from Charlotte, North Carolina, was being nice to Maria.
“Maria knows that Sydney and I are close,” Madina said. “I don’t have to be mean to Maria because Sydney was my friend.”
Madina said she didn’t appreciate Lea criticizing her behavior and was just trying to get through the situation as best she could.
Autumn enjoyed some time alone with Joey during the group date.
“We just have different approaches and perspectives on life and relationships,” Lea said.
‘I hold myself, my friends and my close circle to a very high standard. “I have different morals and values,” he added.
“I guess we’ll agree to disagree,” Madina said.
Maria went to see Madina, who told her that everyone was angry because she was being nice to her.
‘Why am I so hated here?’ Maria asked. ‘They’re getting angry because you were nice to me, that’s not right. That hurts my feelings.’
Maria survived the two-on-one date with Sydney, but found herself still in the middle of the drama.
“I just can’t win with these women,” Maria said in a confessional.
Maria began to cry and said she was just “over this” and told a producer she was “out.”
“They win,” Maria said. ‘I just want to go home. I hate this. I don’t mind. Give someone else my rose. I really do not care. I’ll tell Joey right now. Leave. I just want to leave.’
The Bachelor will return Tuesday on ABC.
